Dear Stephen, thank you for rating your 3-days/2-nights la gas leak trekking tour with Chiangmai Trekking from March 2016. We are very happy that you and your group had a great time exploring the lush nature of Northern Thailand with Piroon as your guide and enjoyed his knowledge of this amazing part of Thailand and of the people living their simple lifes in the jungle villages we spend the nights at and prepare the meals for our guests with fresh organics and fruits from the market. Thank you very much for recommending our trekking tour as a major highlight to others interested in trekking tours around Chiang Mai (and we are a tiny little bit proud that you are rating the tour as being the best trekking you have ever been on). if you visit Chiang Mai again in the future and would like to see more of all the great things that are around here to see, please contact us in advance – we would like to welcome you back again. With the best regards and wishes from Thailand Chiangmai Trekking Piroon Jit Nantaya (b.o. Michael Werner – it works gas 91)

We did the 3 days/2 nights Trekking tour with our guides Ping and Pili and it was great fun! Ping and Pili are very cheerful and fun guys. We were 6 people in our group which I think is a perfect size and the tour was a little cheaper than if we did a private tour. We drove to a nice waterfall and stopped at a local market on the way. Afterwards we stopped for lunch and then we started our trekking tour. Ping and Pili showed us any interesting plants and we were walking for about 3 hours. In the early evening we arrived at a small Karen village where we slept in a dorm. Ping and Pili prepared some amazing dinner while we could enjoy the peaceful silence and nice view (there is no electricity in the village). The next morning we had a great breakfast and took off to walk to the elephant camp. It took about 3 hours to get there. We could rest a little and have another great lunch. Then the elephant experience started. We could feed them and wash them in the river which they seemed to enjoy. After that we could ride them for quite a while which was really cool! As we understood, the elephants are “happy elephants” meaning they go off to the jungle during the night by themselves electricity dance moms song and in the morning the people from the elephant camp find them thanks to the bells the elephants are wearing. Of course, they’re not completely wild but compared to other camps this seems to be most fair. After meeting the elephants we arrived at a Lahu village. We could relax a while and take a “shower” in the river since there was no running water. Yet again, Ping and Pili cooked a delicious dinner. Afterwards, we played cards, drank happy water (rice wine), let a lantern go up in the air and sit together at a campfire while Pili was playing guitar and taught us a local song (well, he patiently tried but we were not the best students). We slept in a dorm again and the next day after some delicious pancakes we did a 3 hour bamboo rafting trip which was great fun. The last stop was for lunch and on the way back to town we could decide whether we wanted to see a snake show (entrance not included and it was ok) and an orchid and butterfly farm (entrance included and nice to see). We totally recommend the trekking tour! Be prepared for some exhausting trekking, to be bit by mosquitos (bring anti mosquito spray!) and to stay in very basic accomodations with not electricity. You’ll get amazing gas and electric phone number views, delicious meals (!) and lots of fun along the way!
