Kitava Island is everything you imagined a remote tropical island would be. White sand beaches, clear water, and friendly natives. I can’t quit say its unspoiled. We had stopped at several islands before arriving at Kitiva. We like others had the PNG cruise on our bucket list. At 72 and 76 we had a great time on these lovely islands. At ALATAU we did the Cultural Show tour, very good and also took a ride in a war canoe. Not very agile but with the help of the locals you are quite safe and for $5 each, why not. Can get lots of pics here locals speak excellent English. DOINI I have commented v gas station on earlier on this site. KIRIWINA and now KITIVA all fun sun stops. Snorkel ONLY if you bring your gear with you. NONE TO HIRE as we were told there was. $80 a kit on the ship. $15 we were told in BigW. DO buy some bits and pieces (I know they are made in China).but PLEASE DON’T give the locals gold or silver coins, they can’t change them no more than we can in Oz, it’s cruel. They like $5 notes, for singing, dancing, material, some gifts. TAKE PLENTY WITH YOU.
