Communication beforehand electricity usage by appliance was great, Kaz was very responsive to my enquiries leading up to my visit via cruise ship in which I was keen to not only see Akaroa via cycle, but also have my first experience on one of their Moustache e-Bikes. As arranged, Gail met me on time exactly where I expected, kitted me up with the supplied helmet vest along with some water sunscreen – from there Gail did a run-down of the bike, how to use it, what to expect, followed by a short squirt across to the lighthouse back to ensure all was in order – which it was. From there we headed south, and gas symptoms this is where I quickly learned how awesome these e-Bikes are! Up down a couple hills which would normally have me kicking back into a much lower gear, these e-Bikes pedal assist ensured while I still had to work, it was an absolute pleasure to ride up hills I normally would’ve found somewhat tougher. All along, Gail was happy to share her local knowledge to enhance the enjoyment of riding thorough this amazing part of the world as we went. As a weekend mountain-biker part-time roadie/commuter, I was curious about how I might find the e-Bike, I had no idea I how quickly I would fall in love with it, so much so I’m now working on purchasing one for myself! Wow, wow, wow. We went from wondering whether we were going to survive this to … What an incredible way to see Canterbury’s gorgeous sights. I haven’t been on a bike for years but decided this weekend we’d try eBiking the Akaroa hills. So on day one we set of ebiking 25kms from the bottom of Little Akaloa Bay, (one of the old diving spots from my Army Burnham days) up over the hills that seemed to go up and up forever down into many bays and up again over more hills. We flew down the last hills to O’Cains Bay c gastronomie reaching 62kph at one point. Stopped at the Museum to acknowledge Murray Thacker, and then it was time return the same route back over nga maunga to Little Akaloa. 2.5 hours all up. This was by far the best biking I have ever experienced or enjoyed with incredible views … period! As if that wasn’t enough, the next day we went to the other side of Akaroa (to Wainui another old Army diving spot) and tackled those hills. Aue te hikakatanga (It was so exciting) of conquering the mountains of Wainui!! So, for those who are thinking Hmmm what can I buy my husband/Wife/Mum/Dad/ Grandma or Grandpa for her/his 50/60/70th let me encourage you gas near me app to consider this wonderful opportunity. There were four of us, aged between 49-65yrs and we loved every single minute. When Kaz first indicated the hills we would tackle we had BIG doubts. Kaz and her partner Gail have set everything up so well. The ebikes are the best on the market, the tour guiding offers he korerorero about local history, points of interest, a route for all sizes, shapes and ages.
