As far as WHY I want to check timing… that would be because the car lost a water pump.. had to pull the head to check the valves (injection pump jumped a tooth) but thankfully cam and crank stayed in time (some how..). Valves were good (no valve stem crushing/bending, lifters all good with no impact marks) .. put gas leak smell it back together.. new water pump and quadcopter gas engine timing set. I bought the car to get running and sell… I wanted to verify timing was correct before sending it down the road. I don’t work on many VWs so I see no point in buying the software for one-time use… and I can’t find anyone locally that has it that will let me use it for half an hour if that.
