We just returned from our stay at this adorable Little House cabin retreat had one gastric sleeve scars of the most memorable family vacations together! My husband, fifteen-year-old son I felt at home from the start in this cozy relaxing authentic log cabin home. Our days were spent hiking in the backwoods, reading, listening to music and playings lots of games and cards while snow fell outside the window birds and squirrels fed at the large bird feeder outside the kitchen window. It felt like we were living in a scene from a puzzle picture. This is a retreat to try something different, a back to basics living that everyone in our over-stimulated technical era could benefit from for at least a few days. Staying at this cabin also gave us a strong sense of self sufficiency by having to work at our own warmth by tending to the wood stove, preparing meals w/out convenience of a microwave or oven by using the top of the wood stove for slow warming of food (that works perfectly!) or the propane cooktop provided for quicker cooking learning how to conserve the use of water during washing dishes and taking our showers. The solar electricity system for lighting and off-grid showering room is innovative and impressive and we even adjusted quickly to using the outhouse bathroom. We learned an invaluable lesson as a family, especially after the hustle and bustle of the electricity test physics holidays and that is life can slow down when you give deadlines, obligations, and technology a break and live in the present moment. Our time did slow down while we were at this cabin, unlike any other vacation we have been on. It was a genuine vacation to relax, spend time as a family and make lasting memories! **In response to Magnus who stayed a few days before us, the first thing you do when staying at a rental is read the guidebook provided by owners in it they advise that woodshack has one side w/ the drier wood. We listened never had an issue w/ wet wood. Cabin suffocating is not the design of cabin that is the fault of renter who doesn’t know how to use wood stove properly. This cabin is authentic, sturdy, comfortable, beautiful and very reasonably priced. I have the personal pictures to prove it and all my family and friends wished they could experience it themselves. Don’t let that negative review persuade your decision to stay here. I can promise you that staying at this cabin home is an experience worth having w/ owners who put their heart into this cabin!
