This rental is Gulf-front with exquisite views and sunsets. It is within walking distance to the Times Square/ downtown area. It is very clean. We knew the property was older and gas pains 6 weeks pregnant were ok with that but the condition of it when we entered was concerning – the entire roof was tarped and this did not prevent leakage during a rainstorm in the twin bedroom, the bathroom, the porch, and the kitchen where we found a puddle on the counter. The unit has windows that wouldnt stay open and many of the blinds were in serious disrepair. There were exposed wires coming out of the wall on the porch. Furniture was older but serviceable. The bedroom door was hanging off the hinges. The kitchen was meagerly equipped and had painted countertops. There were 3 nice loungers and there were 3 beach chairs under the unit – one had straps missing and all 3 were very worn and dirty. This rental is managed through a 3rd party. We notified gas outage them on arrival of our concerns – windows, blinds, exposed wires, lack of toaster and blender in kitchen (we later did find the toaster), roof tarp. It was explained the roof was hurricane damaged and a maintenance person would contact us before coming out to address other issues. The next day, without prior contact, a guy showed up and indicated he was maintenance. He told us the wires had something to do with installation of a “Ring” doorbell, that they were low voltage, and not dangerous. He also informed us that no one opens the windows in south Florida – use the AC and that no one eats in, they all eat out. He did bring a couple electricity dance moms song more lounge chairs, measured the windows for blinds, and promised to bring some beach chairs and a toaster and blender. He attempted to repair the bedroom door but the repair did not last. We were told they need a time without renters to get the roof repaired. He did return 2 days later with some used but clean beach chairs and a toaster and blender. Wednesday, after reporting the significant leaks after rain, we were offered a shelling cruise by the 3rd party so that roof bp gas prices repairs taking 1/2 day could be done on Friday, our last full day. We accepted. On Friday, we returned at 2 pm to find new plywood being installed and the job boss told us a new roof had been ordered. He offered us $50 for dinner which we did not accept. We had to go to public restrooms at Times Square. Overall, this was a hassle-filled vacation. This unit should not have been available for rent in this condition. We did NOT love it.
