This classic cape style home is situated on Priscilla Beach, the most sought after beachfront in historic Plymouth, MA. With a rolling lawn leading you down to private Priscilla Beach, this house offers everything you could want for a relaxing vacation. The house features two bedrooms on the main floor each with a bed for two. Upstairs you will find a large, fully finished area with two sleeping areas separated by a central staircase. There are five twin beds on this level.

a full kitchen with all utensils, pots, pans, etc, a brand new deck with outdoor dining and grill overlooking the ocean, and a full finished walkout basement with large windows overlooking the ocean. Here you will find another queen size pullout and a flat screen television.

Located at water level, this property does not need to contend with some of the high cliffs in the area. Instead of walking down 75 steps to the sand, you can literally step out your door, onto your manicured lawn and right out onto the beach without a single step to contend with. This makes the house wonderful for people of all ages.

With all this, it will be hard to leave the property for even a moment, but when you do, there is plenty to do just down the road. Located just a few minutes south of downtown Plymouth, you are a quick drive to some of America’s most historic spots, including the Mayflower, Plymouth Rock and Plimoth Plantation. Plymouth center is a vibrant town situated around Plymouth Harbor and home to great shopping, dining, whale watching and sportfishing. Off the water, Plymouth boasts 14 golf courses of varying difficulty, including a U.S. Open Qualifier venue and more.

My family of six stayed at this beach cottage for a week in late June. We picked this rental so we could take our two dogs to the beach which is very dog friendly. The house is located at the end of the beach so it limits how many people are walking in front of the house. We found the neighborhood to be quiet. We weren’t familiar with northeastern beaches so a few tips: bring water shoes or thick flip flops as you will have to walk through quite a bit of rock to get to the sand, then plan your day around low tide as we found the beach to be unusable when it was not within a few hours of low tide. The beach itself is on the bay and is very flat and shallow. We never got deeper then our knees so there was no actual swimming but the waves are gentle.

The house is charming with beautiful wood floors and views that don’t disappoint. You can open the windows of the main floor bedrooms and hear the waves at night. The deck is great and equipped with a large newer gas grill. The lawn is large and a great play space. The finished basement area is nicely updated and we used this area for family time. It was really nice to be able to walk down the concrete ramp for beach access vs. steep stairs.

Now for the not so great: The bedrooms are all comfortable sizes but the living room, deck, and basement sitting area would be hard to fit more than six people in at a time. As there is no table for more than four people, larger groups will have to eat separately or off of their laps. The main floor bedrooms have been painted nicely but the living area has scuffed walls and needs some TLC. The kitchen is small but large enough for two people to work in at the same time. Tip: bring your own cutlery as there wasn’t enough for even six of us for a meal; bring your own nonstick skillet as I couldn’t find one. The oven/stove is newer and worked well. The kitchen has seen better days with cracked and missing counter tiles and drawers that are difficult to open and close. While the house does have a/c it is not central throughout. The upstairs loft area is cooled with a portable a/c unit and my kids complained about the noise. There are no screens on the two windows there so you are forced to use the a/c. If you are looking for privacy you will be disappointed as you can hear people having conversations through the walls and the next floor. Also, bring you own games as I could find only three. Property manager Ethan was very nice and quickly responded to our concerns.
