Change in smell – menopause forum – ehealthforum electricity quiz and answers

Hi I’m new to this site and would like to hear from any one who cares to answer. Here goes this evening my husband and I got to talking about women and sex after a site I accidently came across while looking for info. about a medical problem I’m having on the computer. Well we talked about different things and he said in a kind way of course, but it still bothered me because I’m going through a lot of medical problems, and a few months ago I was told I was also post menapause (I turned 49 in June,) he said that I seem to have a different smell now than I did when I wasn’t in menapause "you know the sexual smell of the vaginal region". he said not a bad smell just a different smell not the kind of smell that makes you want to have oral sex as much like before,Well that added one more brick to the load I’m carrying, I’m don’t want to cry in front of him but tomorrow when he’s gone to work and my son goes to school I’m going to have one of those ugly face cries. Has any of you heard or been told this and if not would you mind asking your husband if you seem to smell different, "but don’t tell them about me asking, I know it shouldn’t make any difference but somehow it does you know what I mean?" Thanks

Wow! I relate to what everyone is saying. I just turned 45, and for about 18 months I have hand a change in vaginal odor and secretions. My vagina has smelled so strong, like triple phermones and a chemical smell, as if I were filtering out some toxin. I could smell through my pants. A shower wouldn;t get rid of it as it would return quickly. My urine smelled much stronger too. When ever I went to urinate, I could smell the odor waft up, and I’d feel so self rejecting. I used to have my own nice smell, that I was proud of, all my own… you know? Nothing shameful. I wondered if other people could smell me and I had become very self conscious. Fir the last two years PMS has become much, much worse, to the pont of(back then) suicidal thoughts. I’m doing much better now. Suddenly the last week all the smell has disappeared, as if there is almost no smell now. Coincidentally, my once very think naturally tousled hair has thinned over the last 18 months…a lot. Thin, fragile, baby fine, easily breaking hair. Last month my hair growth came to almost a screeching halt on my legs, pubic area and underarms. Even though I’m still getting my periods, which are increasingly shorter now, I believe that I have going through peri menopause or even menopause, even though my periods haven’t stopped. I tried every thing, even doctors (what do they know or care?). No one prepares you for this female change. All blood tests came back normal on many different levels and checks. It has almost killed me. I treated myself and read a lot on the internet until I dropped. I was careful to make one change at a time to gauge what would help. I don’t know wit the change is coincidental or not. But I got rid of ALL chemical based toiletries and switched to all chemical free or toxin free toiletries. This means toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, baby wipes, lotion, hair color, face cream, makeup…you name it. I started taking Maca root (read about MACA in the internet). I began taking some soy lecithin (not processed with hexane solvent). I switched to small amounts of soy milk organic. Within in days the odor left. what’s this all about??? I’m waiting to see and observe to see a cause and effect. I think it’s a change of life, but what a roller coaster ride. Learn as much as you can ladies. I’m with you. You have my empathy and sympathy.
