Classic 2 bedroom beach house on alki ave w… – vrbo 8 gases

This was an excellent place to stay for our visit to Seattle. Overall, the house is comfortable and welcoming. It is right across from the walking/biking trail along the coast in Alki Beach and conveniently located in walking distance (about 20 minutes) to restaurants and the beach and about 1.5 mile from the water taxi terminal. We walked there and took the free shuttle back after a long day wandering around downtown. The shuttle stop is only about a block away. It was nice to return to this peaceful location after a busy day downtown. The weekend was much busier, with great people-watching opportunities from the front deck. The weekend also made us appreciate having our own designated parking spot. The kids appreciated not having to share a bed like they would in a hotel, and we all slept comfortably. As stated in the listing, the house is older and has some quirks, such as the tiny bathroom. It reminded me of the one in my childhood home – small and not much storage. It didn’t bother us, but some people are picky about such things. My overall impression of the house was, "kid friendly." If you’re traveling with kids this place is ideal. Roomy, close to the beach and water taxi, has a tub for bathing little ones, and a bunk bed. (Top bunk for kids only!) Also, there is a grocery store nearby so its easy to get breakfast supplies. The hosts live downstairs so they are nearby if you need anything and they are very nice. I would definitely stay here again. I enjoyed watching for sea lions and watching the ships and ferries go by.

If you haven’t been to Alki, prepare to be impressed!! It is a beautiful beach community just minutes from downtown Seattle, but a world away. Directly in front of the property lies a 4+ mile pedestrian / bike path. A short (less than a mile) stroll or cycle south brings you to Alki beach– one of the only sandy beaches in Seattle! Here you can enjoy sunbathing and swimming (if you can brave the cold water,) tidal exploration, people watching and much more! There are stands renting kayaks, SUPs, bikes (from regular pedal bikes to recumbents to 4-6 passenger ‘buggies’!) and more. The beach is dotted with fire pits for evening bonfires and just beyond the sand are picnic shelters and BBQs. All along this stretch lie numerous shops and restaurants- from seafood to burgers to Mexican to sushi to coffee shops. A block inland takes you to Whale Tail Park and Alki school grounds- which include two playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts and playing fields. If you continue south, around a small peninsula, you come to the lighthouse, Rocky Beach and quiet, residential Beach Drive. You can walk for miles and miles enjoying the view… Heading north from this property on the Alki Ave walk/bike path, in about half a mile, you come to Anchor Park- jutting into the Bay and offering iconic views of the beautiful Seattle skyline! Further along the path, around the peninsula and paralleling the city, are more parks, restaurants, kayak and bike rentals, a boat launch and the water taxi terminal (whisking you to downtown Seattle in 10 very fun and picturesque minutes) and the famous Salty’s seafood restaurant. (You also have the option of catching the free shuttle to the water taxi terminal- just a block from our property. The city bus stop is also located a block away.) Heading up the hill from the property, you come to Admiral Junction which offers spectacular city and Sound/mountain views and many more restaurants, major grocery stores and drug stores, a recently renovated movie theater, banks and more. We hope you enjoy your time at Alki Beach – and please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your visit even better!!
