We are in our 13th year of putting on the Dirty Spokes Fort Yargo State Park Endurance Mountain Bike Race and as enthusiastic as when we started it (thanks to racers and riders like yourselves). We appreciate the support you all have given our events for the last 12 years and look forward to seeing you out there again this year!

Dirty Spokes is thrilled to be race number 3 of the Chainbuster Race Series again this year (for complete series rules and information please visit Chainbuster Racing)! If you are racing for series points you may register for the 6 hour or 3 hour race.

Please Note… Fort Yargo is undergoing some new renovations and we are moving the start / finish for the race to picnic shelter no. 5. When you enter the park entrance "A" (main entrance) drive straight in past the mountain bike parking lot. Stay straight past the "old fort" and up the hill. After you get up the hill you will come to a stop sign (3 way stop). Turn right and the start / finish will take place down at picnic shelter no. 5 (same area as we have used before). Pit areas will be around the start / finish area (first come / first serve basis)! We WILL still do a Wave Start!

No Refunds: Race Entry Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Unless otherwise posted the race will be held. Race may be postponed due to natural hazards uncontrollable by Race Director. If race is postponed for any reason, there are no refunds and entry fee will be forwarded to the rescheduled date (TBA).

All 6 hour racers will start at 9:00 a.m. with an "on bike" start. No Lemans Start. All 3 Hour racers will start at 9:15 a.m. with an "on bike" start. No Lemans Start. All Junior racers will start at 9:20 a.m. with an "on bike" start. No Lemans Start.

If your team has a mechanical out on the course you have a couple of options: (1) fix your mechanical as quickly as you can and get riding again. You don´t have to be self supportive (meaning) if another rider comes along and they have a tool, tube, knowledge, etc. you need, you may get help from them! Only penalty here is you may loose time, get riding fast to make up for it! (2) if you have a rider that has a mechanical or has a wreck or anything that hinders them from finishing a lap, they may call in and get another rider out on the course. EITHER WAY THE NEW RIDER ON THE COURSE MUST CHECK IN (BUT DO NOT BRING YOUR BIKE WITH TIMING CHIP NEAR TIMING AREA)!!! Once your rider calls in and reports to CANCEL the lap it is CANCELLED.

Please Note… Fort Yargo is undergoing some new renovations and we are moving the start / finish for the race to picnic shelter no. 5. Pit areas will be around the start / finish area (first come / first serve basis)! We WILL still do a Wave Start!

You will be allowed to camp the night before the race at the start ⁄ finish area (the charge to camp here is the same as it would be in a regular camping spot ⁄ we will not be collecting these fees / you must stop by the main office and pay for camping / space is limited / primitive camping only / there are no water hookups / electrical outlets or dump stations available)… or if you just want to come out and set up your pit areas on Friday in preparation for the race you are welcome to do so (no charge to leave 10×10 tents ⁄ pit areas set up the night before).

We will be doing chip timing RFID Timing System (each participant will receive their own timing chip at the registration table 5⁄12⁄18 – your timing chip will correspond to your name and bib number). We do not need to collect your timing chips back after the race.

As each of you know the Yargo Trail Crew has done a great job with these trails over the last year and they are gonna be fun! The course will be right at 9.75 miles per lap. Course should be very fast and flowing: Click here for GPS Data (trying to set it up so the lap times are inside an hour per lap)… Course will consist of 90% outer loop (no monster mile, horseshoe drop and bypass 3 step hill).

The trails at Fort Yargo State Park are outstanding (this course is one of our favorites)! This might be the fastest and best flowing course we have put together at Yargo! Thanks to the work the Yargo Area Bike Association has done with these trails (should see some really fast lap times). This race is very scenic and offers both tight twisty single track, double track trails, some roots, rocks and some sweet elevation change! Garmin 705 measures course at 9.34 miles; Calibrated Bicycle Computer "wheel" measures course at 9.75 miles. Please note GPS Units do not capture every twist and turn in the woods as bicycle wheel does roll every twist and turn.

The 2018 Course has been finalized! It´s fast, fun and probably flows the best of any course we have had an opportunity to put together! Each lap will start and finish at picnic shelter number 5 going in a clock wise direction! Stay on outer loop past picnic shelter number 5 and up through graveyard hill… just past graveyard hill stay right (crossing the road) and head over and next to the mini putt putt section of the course. Cross over the asphalt road and reconnect to the outer loop. At the mountain bike parking lot follow outer loop bypass creek crossing, cross over boys home road, bypass 3 step hill (stay left), stay on outer loop, just past the bottom of the dam bypass monter mile (turn right at monster mile and head up the hill all the way to the gas pipeline / cross over gas pipeline onto outer loop / stay right on outer loop at other end of monster mile) at the bottom of that section when you reconnect and cross over the gas pipeline staying on the outer loop until you reach the "steel bridge". After the steel bridge stay straight over the top of the hill (deadwood hill) by the chicken houses (again just to take a little distance off) onto the outer loop. Continue on outer loop past the primitive camping area and up over crossing entrance b road back to picnic shelter number 5!

Course is dialed in right at 9.75 miles. Intentions are to get lap times about 40-50 mins or so. T he idea behind the layout of this course is to hopefully get the individual and team times inside an hour (hopefully putting some strategy together for some of those teams to get that 3rd lap in the 3 hour race! Likewise in the 6 hour race try to get that 6th lap and provide some opportunities to potentially getting a 7th lap if possible)!

Giant thanks to the Yargo Trail Crew for the time and energy they have put into maintaining these trails! If you haven’t ridden there ⁄ you´re gonna love it! If you have ridden there you know what we mean! A portion of your race day proceeds will be donated back to the Yargo Trail Crew!

We will have a kids race (FREE of Charge)! The kids race will be on the Turtle Creek Mountain Bike Trail (across the street from the main mountain bike parking lot and next to the tennis courts)! The course is right at .95 and very beginner friendly! Check out the kids route GPS Data! Race will start at 8:00 a.m. All parents must sign the waiver form for the kids… Race is for kids 12 and under!
