A Grand Cherokee is on a truck platform and doesn’t have anything like the nimble feel of an XC40 or an E-pace. He doesn’t want anything that large, it’s a completely different class of vehicle. The standard 3.6 Pentestar is great, but no fun at all.

As per the smaller Cherokee what is it that you’re referring to in your "thumbs down?" The Cherokee in question is quiet and sturdy, it is not a Cherokee of decades earlier. You may hate it’s appearance etc. but as per this convo in rattles and overall noise in the cabin, its superior to any of the vehicles mentioned, the thing is a tank. Just listen to a door close, or turn on the radio.

What truck platform is it on? It’s Unibody construction and a SUV like every thing else…… Had 2 friends who have had the regular Cherokees in the past few years with the 9 speed FCA built transmission… One turned it in early on his lease and ate the diff because the transmission was so jerky and crappy, no amt of software updating would fix it. The other friends was in the shop so much they finally put a whole new tranny in it at 30K miles. In the shop more than it was out. He traded it right after they swapped it…Too bad… I like JEEPS actually, but I wouldn’t put up with that malarkey…
