With its large lot and decks galore, you will feel like you have found your own piece of Outer Banks paradise. And the best part is, you have! Summit is a 6-bedroom, 5.5 bath home with beautiful views of the ocean in a quiet community in Duck. It is just a 2-block walk to the beach.

Come down the spiral staircase to the middle floor. The large kitchen features an abundance of wood, a beautiful asymmetrical island with seating for 4, black appliances and a cool tile floor. It has an unusual and very appealing layout. The family style dining table features seating for 12 and decorative candle holders to create just the right atmosphere. An additional table with 4 chairs is located in the lounge area.

The lounge area also offers seating for 3 (including an irresistible chaise lounge). The focal point of this space is the fireplace. It’s just perfect for a cooler evening or an off-season stay. The living area offers a comfortable sectional sofa and TV. Though no one ever wants to have to work on vacation, in the event you must, there is a separate office on this floor, also. A powder room rounds out this most lovely and welcoming space. The group will want to spend many hours here cooking, eating or just relaxing together and creating lifetime memories of the days on the Outer Banks.

We stayed at this property in early August with some of our extended family. The bedrooms were large, the house was a good size, it had beautiful views of both the sound and the Atlantic and was in a great location and had a fenced in pool. The bunk rooms were a fabulous idea and our kids loved them. The bedrooms were all clean and had an en suites. The decks around the house were beautiful (and safe), we enjoyed sitting out on them every morning and evening. The had a few high-chairs a wagon, large family room and kitchen area combo.

The kitchen seemed to be overstocked and had almost everything we needed. Some items that needed to be taken care of, the gas grill wouldn’t light, even with our lighter, we tried every night to light it. It was old and broken. Some of the foliage was overgrown and obstructed the walkways, with little kids walking around them, it would have been nice to have the walkways cleaned up a bit. The kitchen, although stocked, could have used a little TLC. Broken cabinets, 2 microwaves ( 1 worked, 1 didn’t), grease stains in the alcove with the stove. Could have used a new paint job. Previous families left broken boogie boards in the garage, why? Just dump them in the garbage by the entrance to the beach. It would have been helpful to have complimentary 6 beach chairs to bring with us, we were carrying all the little kids to the beach and didn’t/couldn’t bring beach chairs from Chicago, nor wanted to pay for them at Walmart for a week and leave them.

It was a nice home, but a little TLC would bring the house up to par and more appealing to renters, some extra complimentary items would have been helpful as well for families who travel long distances and don’t have room in cars to bring extra items.

While the home worked out great for us being close to the wedding venue, it seemed like some of the details communicated from management company were slightly different than realized. For example, when it touted keurig kees K-cups, it wasn’t clear it was just 1 k-cup. It advertised hand soap dispensers (leading me to believe I didn’t need to bring) but my master bath was empty. A few other comments on upkeep: Areas on the upper deck were covered with bugs…could have used spring cleaning… power washing maybe. While kitchen had lots of "stuff", the many cabinets didn’t seem to have been organized in years, so you had to keep looking to Find what you needed. Nice to have ice maker, but couldn’t get it to work and no instructions provide (if we needed to do something). The deck seemed to need refinishing and the shrubs trimmed back from walkway. The pool was very nice (seemed new) and we enjoyed it. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, just not sure so much that I’d recommend it or look to stay again.
