Excellent hotel for families. – review of smartline margarita hotel, laganas, greece – tripadvisor static electricity vocabulary words

The hotel is lovely very clean and modern but the entertainment leaves a lot to the imagination! 2 girls do all the entertainment who are employed by Thomas Cook Lily and Laura who work tirelessly to entertain all the guests but mainly the kids. Food was nice but very same old same old every night. Our room was clean and all the staff very friendly. Very disappointed with Laganas as a resort, filthy dirty piles and piles of rubbish everywhere, I hate to think what it looks like after the 18-30 season is over! Thank God for the hotel next door where you can get a decent cocktail 2 for €5, and Amigos Bar! Won’t return to Laganas any time soon. What I will say is Margarita is an extremely hard working take no crap kind of woman and is running a hotel that clearly has issues but she’s won’t take no crap that’s for sure. Didn’t realise there was a Tourist Tax to pay on arrival, shame the government don’t use it to tidy up the resort and filthy beach. Walk up to Kalamaki if you want a nice beach. Shower was like playing russian roulette you didn’t know if you were going to be scolded or frozen, and remember don’t flush loo paper it goes in the bin (not nice in public toilets if someone hasn’t been well) nice new sun loungers and very clean pools albeit they are freezing cold at the moment. Nice hotel let down by a bad resort.

Firstly the staff at the hotel are the friendliest we have come across! Nothing is ever too much trouble, and they’re so friendly and polite. The hotel is modern, and so clean! The rooms are cleaned daily and they do a great job. It’s just set back off Laganas strip which is an ideal position. We tended to avoid the strip at night unless we were going for meals, people will try and get you into their bars etc which is a bit annoying but expected there. There is entertainment each night at the hotel mainly for children. We often visited a hotel next door ‘The Atlantis’ which was a sports bar showing football etc. There is a shortcut to the beach which avoids the strip. The beach is lovely, particularly for walks to Kalamaki, there are also plenty of beach bars for refreshments. The food at Margarita was great, always plenty of choice, fresh salads and bread. It changed each night too so we definitely didn’t get bored of the all inclusive. There was also a snack bar open between certain hours searching hot dogs, burgers and chips etc! A shop connected to the hotel also sells everything you could need, essentials, food and gifts! There is an adult and children’s pool therefore something for everybody. Would definitely recommend booking days out; eg the ship wreck and turtle trip they’re amazing. As mentioned below some guests were noisy but the hotel staff dealt with this immediately. The only thing we found a little odd was the seating arrangements for meals. You were given a table number. As a couple we expected a table for two however we were actually on a table of 6 with two other couples for every meal. We were ok with this but often sat elsewhere just to have a meal together. All in all it was a fantastic holiday!

Lovely hotel set off of the main Strip and is a family hotel run by a family. The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. The food is very good and plenty of choice, different dishes every day and a snack bar that does burgers and ice creams etc. The hotel had two pools, one with entertainment and snack bar, very family friendly, the other much quieter and adults only. Hotel also has a shop that was very reasonable. Entertainment was run by the two Thomas Cook reps Laura and Lily and they were fantastic, the hotel wouldn’t be the same without them. The only problems we had were with our room we had two nights in (128) it is dated, mouldy curtains, stained desk and chair, shower so small couldn’t close the doors. Certainly isn’t the room in the pictures. But both the rep and the owner were understanding and we were moved into another room (217). This room was great. Only problem you have is the passing guests coming back from their nights out between 1am and 6am, but then we can’t complain when we booked a hotel close to the strip, it was bound to happen.
