STIHL brushcutters don’t follow the well-beaten path – they make their own with a big saw blade. The STIHL FS 360 C-EM brushcutter has a low-emission, fuel-efficient engine. It also features the STIHL M-Tronic™ engine management system, which adjusts the engine to compensate for changes in operating conditions, thus maintaining optimum engine performance. Ideal for cutting thickets and thinning wild growth, this brushcutter can take on heavy clearing jobs while remaining environmentally conscious. It also boasts a vertical pleated air filter for long service life. A great convenience feature is its easy-adjust handle bar which swivels for easy transport and storage. The STIHL FS 360 C-EM also features our Easy2Start™ system – making starts fast and easy – and a simplified starting procedure with semi-automatic choke lever and momentary stop switch which automatically returns to the start position so it’s always ready to get to work. This brushcutter even includes a four-point anti-vibration system and an extremely lightweight universal harness for optimal comfort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by EFfiveTORNADO from PRODUCT USE: FS 300-400-500-series Brushcutters/Clearing Saws I am placing this Product Use here to assist Stihl consumers in better understanding the configuration & application of these FS 300-400-500-series units. My comments are also intended to prompt StihlUSA to market all three units offered in this series configured SEPARATELY as Brushcutters and Clearing Saws. Currently, all three units sold in this series are only available configured as Clearing Saws. This costs consumers an additional 20% more to configure their unit as a Brushcutter. For those of you who find my above comments confusing, go to the stihl.com international website & view all of the available configurations.Brushcutters are outfitted with one of several available cutting head attachments, a deflector kit, & a sine wave style handlebar assembly. The purpose of the upward sine wave on the left handlebar is to provide clearance with the left leg of the operator when cutting on a right-to-left sweep. An optional deflector may have to be purchased depending upon your choice of available cutting head attachments. Clearing Saws are outfitted with one of a few available sawing blades, a limit stop kit, & a straight style handlebar assembly. Clear cutting, generally, does not require a sweeping motion, hence the straight style handlebar assembly. This straight style handlebar is clumsy if used with Brushcutter cutting head attachments. The limit stop is designed for use with saw blades ONLY! The term "limit stop" is confusing, but it is basically a deflector with an anti-kickback feature. The FS 400-series is offered in Short (K), Standard, & Long (L) shaft models. The Short (K) shaft model is ideal for shorter operators or when cutting on steeper terrain where the distance to ground is shorter. NOTE: For safe operation, cutting should always be performed in an uphill direction! The Long (L) shaft model is ideal for taller operators or for cutting full branched brush & trees where you must extend in to the trunk. The Short (K) & Long (L) shaft models are approximately 4", shorter or longer, than the Standard shaft model length. Currently, ONLY the Standard shaft model is available in the U.S. The (K) & (L) models are available in Canada.Brushcutters & Clearing Saws should NOT be viewed as merely "heavy-duty weedeaters". They are powerful, highly-capable machinery designed for the purpose of operating where mowers or wheeled & tracked machinery cannot operate due to forestation, vegetation, obstacles, or terrain. They are the only option you have in difficult environs short of sheep, goats, or herbicides! Potential operators should develop their skills prior to taking on the most demanding jobs, while paying particular attention to SAFETY for themselves & bystanders.Brushcutter-configured units are designed to cut sapling trees, brush, vines, weeds, &/or heavy grasses. In ascending order, cutting head attachments are: nylon line; poly head; grass blades; & brush knives. These units are extremely versatile with wide-ranging applications that include, but are not limited to: forest floors; ladder-fuels control; wildfire crews; steep terrain; rocky areas; wildland trails; difficult sites; inaccessible areas; fire suppression zones; lands management; noxious weed control; structure perimeters; fence lines; crop lines; drainage swales; waterfronts; parks; cemeteries; farms; ranches; estates; businesses; homeowners; property lines; security zones; professional landscapers…and MORE!Clearing Saw-configured units are more specific in application than their Brushcutter counterparts. They are designed to cut small trees above sapling size, cut larger-diameter brush, thin multiple-trunk clusters, remove low branches, perform forest thinning, harvest cane, harvest Christmas trees, & perform some overlap with Brushcutters. They are used by forest managers, tree farms, & nurseries in addition to some of the professionals listed above with Brushcutters. Clearing Saw blades must be kept away from ground contact to avoid damaging the blade teeth.Operators are cautioned that hazards exist from flying projectiles during use. The wearing of a helmet w/ face shield, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, protective-toe boots, & long clothing are recommended. These products are available in the Stihl line.StihlUSA claims that some of the products in the full line are not available in the U.S. due to lack of sales or demand. It is up to YOU to communicate directly with them to express your desires to expand the line. Just telling your local dealer, although helpful, is not enough!
