Explore making multi-layered prints, collage materials and a few collages using Golden OPEN acrylics and a Gelli Plate. Roll out paint, stencil a pattern, lay down a leaf, and create images layer upon layer as the day goes by. You will work on prints on printmaking paper as well as create collage materials printing on thin deli sheets. You will use some of the collage papers to create collages filled with vibrant color, patterns and a variety of materials. We will work quickly and make several prints without the use of a press. Using elements including Ampersand Gessoboard, GOLDEN acrylic paint and texture mediums, design motifs, and decorative paper. The GOLDEN Mixed Media Lecture demo covers a wide variety of tools and techniques for use in Mixed Media projects. Learn about the wide range of GOLDEN Acrylic paints and mediums, giving you a good understanding of each product and their different attributes. Learn how to make the right choices in grounds (surfaces to work on) and colors for the best intended application. Learn how to create washes, stains, and collage materials. We also cover how to directly transfer images using Fluid Matte Medium and a laser copy, the use of stencils, paint markers, and watercolor pencils and crayons. This is a great place for beginners and experienced artists alike to learn new techniques and be inspired by innovative applications. Free information packets and samples for all attending. Following a short lunch break there will be a two hour hands on session where materials will be provided for you to learn to work with a direct transfer and mixed media applications. To begin you will work with transferring printed laser copies of images into wet acrylic materials and finish up with lively mixed media paintings loaded with color and texture. Bring laser copies of your own photographs or drawings and learn different ways to transfer those images onto your prepared surfaces. Learn to create a variety of acrylic skins and apply some as collage elements, as well as add texture with acrylic gels and molding pastes. Serious or humorous, all imagery will be unique to each student. Create your personal statements while exploring new possibilities for self-expression. Open to all levels of painting experience. Approach landscape painting using personal photos for subject matter, and see what fun adding lots of color and texture can be! Come and paint all day in a loose way, applying bold, big brushstrokes with a lot of paint, and/or pour paint for an interesting effect. You will learn to add texture with gels and figure out which gel best suits you as you create little paintings packed with emotion. The focus of the class will be on capturing larger shapes rather than details as you simplify the landscape images. gas utility austin You will be encouraged to work quickly with big brush strokes or swiftly apply paint with a palette knife. Have fun using paint mixed with gels to create thick, textural paintings filled with lots of energy. Class will warm up with quick drawings to define shapes and forms in the landscape image to be painted.
