My girlfriend and I came to Coushatta as part of a tour bus line. We’ve been to Vegas and done a lot of what it has to offer (ziplines, Cirque Du Soleil O, gardens, museums, NY NY roller coaster, etc.). We knew Coushatta has nothing of the sort, nor does the town have much in the way of attractions beside the casino itself. But we came with family so it’s all good. Most everything seemed to be geared to an older crowd in terms of promotions and such. There were some cool things going on, but we couldn’t partake due to being comparatively young (30). In fact I think we were the youngest people here power generation definition during our stay not including any servers/attendants. Speaking of servers and attendants, we didn’t see many. While playing, we would rarely see any of them come to offer drinks. We began to move from whichever game we were playing to another area entirely if we saw it had a server. After about three hours of only getting a drink served to us once, we just went to where the nearest server was and sat at a game without playing anymore. As for food, we wanted steaks but the gas key staking tool steakhouse is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. So we had Gumbeaux instead all three days we were there. It was tasty so it made up for no steaks. My girlfriend tried the Bloody Mary, which is now her new favorite drink. It is served with chili powder, two green beans, a skewer with a lime, a lemon, an okra, shrimp, bacon and olives. Erin at Gumbeaux was wonderful. Give that girl a raise! She took care of us, and seemed rather nice. Hopefully she has a bright future ahead. Get the beignets in the courtyard between the casino and the hotels. A must have if staying here. Our room was at the Coushatta Inn. I liked that it was rather cold inside. Made getting under the blanket early comforting. But the walls are paper thin. We could hear people two rooms down it seemed. And we heard the entire conversation of the husband and wife next door. It was like an entire sermon of the pitfalls of drugs, alcohol and how people fail to ascend to a higher thinking because they victimize themselves… But that’s besides the point. We wanted to get in the pool since it has a cool looking slide, but it appeared closed. There were pipes and men doing some sort grade 9 electricity test and answers of renovation or construction. So our choices were to gamble or watch TV in the room. For some reason, cell signal within the casino and hotel was non existent. So, I was attempting to use Wifi Calling with the open Coushatta guest network, but the WiFi itself here is a bit spotty at best. Testing revealed it fluctuated from .6Mbps to 1.41Mbps downstream, if it connected at all. There is a shuttle service between the Inn and the casino, but I found it faster to just walk to it. Plus, you get to see a nice statue and flowers on the way. But if you are older and walking like five minutes is tough, the shuttle is a great service. Make sure to tip your driver! If we were older and didn’t mind just staying put in either the casino, the buffet line (which was long), or the hotel, this place is nice. If you are under 55, you will be bored.
