Our 1850’s farmhouse was fully restored in 2016. It has beautiful wood floors, lightfilled with comfortable open spaces for entertainig and relaxing. There are 2 bedrooms on opposite ends of the house. You enter the house through a mudroom with laundry/pantry adjacent into an open kitchen with island and stools. Off the kitchen is a bathroom with cement tiles and soaking tub. Next to it is a bright guest bedroom with full size bed. The living room is open to the kitchen and dining room which reading nook under the stairs. Stairs lead up to a hallway with another bathroom with cement tiles and rain shower. The spacious master bedroom is at the end of the hall with a queen size bed with a desk.

There is a fantastic porch off the house and 2+ acres (and open land behind) to explore. This spring we will be working on landscaping the property and putting in a fruit orchard and small garden, as we just finished the house in Jan 17′. Guests will have access to all of the land.

The farmhouse is 9 mins ( 5.2 miles) to Cornell University and 16 mins (6.3 miles) to Ithaca College and just up the hill from Collegetown and downtown Ithaca. We are open to short term renting from 1 to 6 month, please inquire about our rates. View more

I really enjoyed my stay at Andy and Kim’s farm house. It is an adorable turn of the century home that has been nicely renovated, with an eye to detail and quality work. The owners did not spare any expense in the furniture, appliances and kitchen utensils. All are top notch. I love that there were many spices in the kitchen to use. Everything is new and of excellent quality. The bed was very comfortable and I really enjoyed both the rain shower head in the shower and the standalone bathtub, in which I took several bubble baths. There is a comfy reading nook that I enjoyed often. The wooden floors are lovely.

As to one of the reviewer’s comment about the busy road, I would say that the country road is usually quiet except for the morning commute. If I had the windows open, that was the only time that I noticed the traffic. It really was not a big deal.

If you want quick access to downtown, this is not the place for you. If you want to sit out on the patio in the morning and listen to the birds, you will love it here. The drive to town is very pretty and only takes about 12 to 15 minutes. I love the farmhouse and when the landscaping is done, it will be top notch! I don’t think I would stay anywhere else in Ithaca.

4. The woven wood blinds are not transparent but do allow a little light to filter through and as the farmhouse is elevated up off the country road, it would be impossible to see inside while traveling on the road unless someone was physically standing on the porch peering into one of the windows.

7. It is mentioned in our listing that we are doing landscaping as the house was just completed this spring. It had been a very wet spring. Parking on our newly graded and seeded lawn instead of the gravel driveway that actually looks like a parking space cost us $250 to re-grade and seed.

8. Burners on gas stoves can at times be temperamental. There is a lighter in the island drawer when they don’t light automatically. If you let the gas run when not lit, the next time it lights it will have a “fireball” effect because of all the gas in the air.

9. I think your concerns could have been alleviated and those items you mention needing improvement addressed if you had responded to my initial request about when you were planning to arrive. Then we could have met you for our customary orientation.
