Highly recommended – review of hotel europa, sorico – tripadvisor what are the 4 gas giants in the solar system

Hotel Europa is a real gem-not to be missed on any visit to the area! We arrived as strangers and left 4 days later as friends! We were made so welcome by the family-collecting us from Colico station, giving us advice about places to see and trails for the fabulous walking around, even encouraging my attempts to speak Italian (even though it’s not needed as Mattia and his Dad chatted in English, German and Dutch with other guests with ease!) Your enjoyment of your stay matters to them! The hotel is spotless, the room comfortable and spacious (we stayed in room 1 with balcony overlooking the lake and snow capped mountains). Best of all (as others have commented) is Mamma Angela’s wonderful food! I watched her make the best tortellini I have ever tasted and the strawberry tiramisu is to die for! Whilst the menu is on the board outside, Mattia explains what is new each day! Difficult decisions as it was all delicious and no need to eat anywhere else! Sorico is a quiet village to the north of the lake opposite a nature reserve! There is abundant wildlife to watch and some lovely walks straight from the hotel! Borrowed the hotel bikes to venture further down the lake and used the bus to head into the bigger towns further south (tickets from the tobacconist). A great place to stay and relax! Mille grazie! My husband and I spent three delightful nights here and wish that we had planned to stay longer. It’s apparent from the minute you arrive that you’re in a place where the family owners go out of their way to make sure you are welcomed and comfortable without being obtrusive. The rooms are spotless, clearly recently updated and made for a good night’s sleep after a day of sightseeing. As another reviewer said, there aren’t many restaurants nearby but with “la Mamma” in the kitchen doing the cooking you’d be crazy not to have dinner there. We did, three nights in a row and I doubt we’ll have better pasta this trip. Be sure to try the Tiramisu with strawberries; my husband said it was the best he’s ever had and the local specialty with buckwheat pasta was excellent. Breakfast is also included. As for location, the setting is right next to walking/biking trails along the lake (the hotel offers bikes for guests to use) with a beautiful view of the mountains and many aquatic birds, including quite a few swans. With a car, you can easily reach Varenna, Bellaggio and other interesting places (don’t miss Villa Carlotta). Mattia, your host, is also very helpful with tips and directions and he speaks English very well. Did I forget to mention that it’s also a good bargain? It is – and I recommend booking directly using the hotel’s website. If we’re ever back in this part of Italy, Hotel Europa will definitely be our first choice.

This is like no hotel my family has been before. From the moment we stepped inside, Mattia was friendly and welcoming, very accommodating even if we arrived later than planned. His family was also very friendly and showing genuine interest in our well being while staying at their property (my wife unfortunately got the flu the day after we arrived). The entire family took good care of us, paying attention to our needs and being flexible, preparing home made remedies to help my wife, adjusting to our changing schedules, to the point of allowing us extra time when checking out (at which point my daughter and I got sick too). I couldn’t have asked for anything better, well maybe feeling better and being able to enjoy more of the home made cuisine (of which, the couple of meals we sampled were really good and authentic). The hotel is very close to the lake of Como, with an abundance of walking paths with magnificent views. Mattia is also very knowledgeable and can recommend what to visit and when based on schedule and the ever changing weather.
