We look forward to welcoming you to our lovingly restored Serafina House — right in the walkable heart of historic Sutter Creek. This is a house for la dolce vita. In addition to its ideal location, Serafina House offers historic charm, unfussy luxury, and modern comforts–as well as thoughtful extras to welcome you.

Our gourmet kitchen is equipped with a six-burner Viking range, two ovens, and a pantry stocked with basics for your enjoyment. One bedroom offers a king and the other a queen-sized bed–both outfitted with luxury linens. Our sunroom offers a comfortable queen futon with a high-quality memory foam topper and luxury linens–when you let us know you have extra guests, we’ll set it all up for you.

Our front sitting room has a gas fireplace, piano and a guitar as well as well-stocked bookshelves and plenty of comfy chairs. Our living room and dining rooms are spacious and comfortable. Our master bath has both a spa-sized soaking tub and large walk-in shower, and the second bath has a stall shower, and we provide complimentary bath products. We also provide fast wifi, a bluetooth stereo in the music room, and a CD player in the sunroom. We offer complimentary coffee and teas, a selection of waters/sodas, and a bottle of our favorite local wine on check-in.

Though our home is in the heart of Sutter Creek–with its great tasting rooms, events and shops, our small street is quiet and our old fashioned porch and back yard are your private oasis. We do not offer a TV or land-line phone (though we do offer wifi–see note above). This house is about unplugging and enjoying the simple, sweet life in our beautiful, gold country setting. We’ll be happy to share recommendations to help you enjoy all our area has to offer. Our place also makes a great home base for exploring Amador County, and the Hwy 88 and 49 corridors. We’re very close to Amador’s famous wineries, historic and recreational sites, and an easy drive up into one of the most beautiful regions of the Sierra with its unmatched hiking, skiing, fishing and kayaking/canoeing. I began spending time between these remarkable places in the 1980s when my family moved from nearby Calaveras County and my career in theatre and work with non-profits and community projects began taking me to San Francisco. I served as the Executive Director of Amador’s Arts Council for a number of years, before helping to found one of the County’s local theater companies. The common thread in my work and community service is my focus on connecting dynamic people, ideas and resources to help bring great projects to life–or to the next level. My husband is a musician, and we both know first-hand how important it is to find a balance between being "on-stage" and finding ways to reconnect with simple, quiet pleasures–finding ways to get re-inspired and re-charged.

My best ideas of unfussy luxury, fun, and the kind of welcome Michael and I strive to give our close friends and family combine at Serafina House. I hope if you come to stay that you’ll find a great balance of fun and rest, and that you’ll come away feeling re-charged and re-connected with what (and/or who) matters most to you.

We stayed at the wonderful, historic Serafina house over the New Year’s weekend and loved, loved, loved it! Our get-away was a last-minute mini-moon after our Christmas wedding. December was such a frenzy, and getting away to Serafina house was the perfect way to unwind and relax together. The house is in the perfect location in relation to the town of Sutter Creek – just a brief walk (less than 5 minutes) – and it is an easy starting point to explore the Gold Country and the wines of Amador County.

Serafina house is lovely inside. It’s light and bright, exceptionally clean, has a beautifully remodeled and luxurious master bath, a comfortable king size bed with very nice sheets in the master bedroom and an exceptionally beautiful and nicely updated kitchen with everything one would need to feel like you are cooking in your own home. Since we were a party of two, we used the second bedroom for clothes and suitcase storage, and the second bathroom for getting ready in natural light. The house also has comfortable spaces to unwind. The Sunroom was my favorite place to sip tea and read in the mornings; the comfy futon combined with the warmth and sunlight in the room was an absolutely perfect inside setting to enjoy during crisp winter mornings. The living room is also very comfortable, and the music room is a lovely use of the space.
