In our montlhy blog L.O.V.E. (Living Our Value of Equity) Notes, we share ideas and stories about equity-based community engagement and fostering L.O.V.E. in our communities. Participants had the opportunity to gaze upon transformative works of community/public art. Campus Compact Announces 2019 Newman Civic Fellows 262 students from 39 states, Washington, D.C., Mexico, and Greece honored for their commitment gas engineer salary to solving public problems BOSTON, Mass. – March 6, 2019 – Campus Compact, a Boston-based non-profit organization working to advance the public purposes of higher education, has announced the 262 students who will make up the organization’s 2019 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows. The fellowship honors the late Frank Newman, one of Campus Compact’s founders, who was a tireless advocate for civic engagement in higher education. In 2015, Campus Compact initiated an exploration of what it might mean to create a professional certification for higher education community and civic engagement practitioners that could advance practitioners’ preparation, improve civic experiences and partnerships, and yield better results for students, institutions, and communities. Four years later, the Compact is on the electricity and water cusp of rolling out this first-of-its-kind Community Engagement Professional (CEP) Credentialing Program. The purpose of the new credentialing program is to provide civic and community engagement practitioners with a means to gain electricity and magnetism formal recognition for the knowledge and skills they possess and to enhance their professional competencies in ways that encourage more effective, inclusive, and equity-based partnerships and practices.
