Lgp slams up govt over power crisis electricity test physics

The Lok Gathbandhan Party (LGP) has criticised the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh for failing to provide adequate electricity in rural areas. The party said the government has been making tall claims over availability of electricity but reports from various parts of the state indicate acute crises in rural areas.

The spokesperson for the party said here on Wednesday that official data indicates supply of electricity from 16 to 18 hours per day, but the ground realities are absolutely different. With the mercury soaring menacingly, the power supply has worsened, not only in the countryside but also in the urban area, the spokesperson said. Longer outages have become routine in urban centres also. The spokesperson said that UP government has also claimed on full electrification of rural areas but even basic infrastructure of spreading wire is still incomplete. The spokesperson said the government’s assertion about power supply is misleading.

He said that even NDA government’s claim of electrifying all villages in India is an exaggerated statement in the absence of supply of electricity to each and every household in the country. The spokesperson said electricity supply in rural areas was chaotic. He said in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP government has been making tall claims about improvement in rural area whereas the ground realities are absolutely different. The UP villages with extremely poor infrastructure are not getting power supply for more than eight to ten hours.

The LGP said short supply is a major problem which the state government has not been able to overcome and it has also affected farming badly. The spokesperson said the government has been facing massive transmission losses, which is actually large scale theft of power in connivance with electricity employees and officers. The spokesperson said in UP the "transmission loss" is about 50 per cent along with piling up of massive pending payments. It is not that the people in rural areas do not want to pay, they are always ready to make payment but their only demand is regular supply, he said.

The spokesperson said by making misleading claims the problem is not going to be solved and the central and state governments would have to make sincere efforts to improve the supply situation. The spokesperson said vast swath of rural areas in the country are facing massive health, electricity, education and other infrastructural problems with the government just rolling out its success data on paper.
