Except Star Saber was never evolved by the matrix. The theme was characters that were. So Primal does fit better per what his optimal form came from, whereas Star Saber fits better for later. Would kind of make no sense for Star Saber in isolation to have a jet form which is pointless in such a confined space to have and all he entails with multiple exo-suit enhancements. Whereas Primal fits more because of the more feral aspect of the jungle area, and the beast aspect to his isolation. So all he’s had is time to monkey around while confined to his duties. And a guardian like this would need to be someone that’s chest thumping type imposing anyway. Plus the vast amounts of weapons Primal has does fit to a requiem blaster guardian. He does have two wrist mounted shotguns, two over the back cannons. Two swords, and a mace. That does seem very over armed bodyguard/guardian to me. Especially for something like the Requiem Blaster and the devastation it can cause as opposed to the other Prime weapons of lore.

It was nice to see Primal and Megs go at it. Then later Megs comes out with the precious gun and I’m like; "what, Megs beat Primal?" Then next you see Primal come out like it’s no big deal. Did I fall asleep on something on this episode again?

Again, the writing, the pacing, it’s all super slow and super boring. It’s like the writers just don’t know how to fill up 11 minutes and so the take the easy rout; "let’s just make this into one looooooong fight scene." We blew 33 minutes on a fight scene with preda king and Volcanus?

But what can I expect, in the Titans Return it took an entire season to deal with Tripticon. We got ONE titan master and he didn’t even turn into a "head" for another bot. An entire collection of titan/head masters and not one of them was used in the series. We went right back to the slow passed dragged out giant, giant robot death match…for an entire season. BORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a big Optimus Primal fan, I was thrilled when he won the PotP fan vote. I literally waited over a decade for Primal to make a comeback, even if it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to see him alongside Autobots and Decepticons (I know it’s not the first time, but I never got used to it).

While this is certainly not the worst way the character could’ve been handled, this Primal barely acts like the Maximal leader I grew up with. Distinct traits such as his "down-to-Cybertron" personality are barely present (which may fit his established background here, but it doesn’t really suit him). You could switch Primal for any other bot and it would change very little (the comparisons with Optimus Prime are cute, but they rarely acted alike to begin with).

I’m willing to wait and see if this new Primal will be more fleshed out later, but you have one chance at a good first impression and this episode misses the mark. It’s not offensive by any means, but I’m not feeling any passion for the character, which is a shame. Hopefully this will change in future episodes.
