TransCanada is seeking a Mechanical Technician to work at the Water Valley, MS location. The successful candidate will report to the Operations Team Leader and work on a team that operates and maintains a high pressure natural gas pipeline system, reciprocating engine and turbine-driven compressor stations, gas measurement facilities, communication systems, and other related facilities. This position is overtime eligible and extended work hours including nights and weekends and may be required on occasion without advance notice.

• Actively participates in a team environment by acquiring and applying required qualification, supporting the training of team members, performing administrative duties and assisting with budgeting, planning, problem solving, prioritization, and decision making process;

• Activities may include but are not limited to: operation, maintenance & repair of pipeline, operation and maintenance of valves & operators, filter change-outs; inspection, repair & setting regulators & relief valves, blow down, purging, & pressurization of pipelines or stations; performing line locates on company pipelines and/or utilities, corrosion control/prevention activities, line patrols and associated ROW maintenance, all within Company Operating Procedures;

• Troubleshoot, operate and maintain gas-fired large-bore reciprocating engines and turbines, and gas compressors, standby generators engines, centrifugal & diaphragm pumps, low pressure boilers, oil coolers, air compressors, large-bank cooler fans & gear boxes, large diameter valves & operators, and other auxiliary equipment. Related experience may also be considered;

• Effective written & verbal communication, as well as interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative, team environment that includes shared responsibilities, establishing and maintaining good working relationships with others, to support team and company objectives, and willingness to assist in all areas i.e. Controls, pipeline, or measurement as required by team;

Reporting to The Tri-State Area Leader the Mechanical technician will support work at the Birmingham, Iowa station and surrounding area. The successful candidate will work on a team that operates and maintains a high pressure natural gas pipeline system, turbine and reciprocating driven compressor station, gas measurement equipment and other related facilities and is subject to hazardous conditions including; escaping high pressure gas, adverse weather conditions, heights, heavy lifting and cramped conditions. This position is overtime eligible and extended work hours may be required on occasion without advance notice including nights, weekends and holidays.

• Operation, maintenance and repair of reciprocating and centrifugal compression, valves and operators, regulators, relief valves, blow down purging and pressurization of pipelines and stations, and performing line locates on company pipelines; all within company operating procedures;
