Motorcar Operators West is offering a one-day Nevada Northern Railway Excursion on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in Ely, Nevada. The excursion is organized for all members and especially for Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Southern California members traveling US Highway 93 north to the Eastern Idaho Railroad Memorial Day weekend excursion in Burley, Idaho. Central California members can also take advantage of the NNRY Excursion by making an US Highway 50 detour to Ely. This is an opportunity to include the Nevada Northern Railway in the May 25 through May 28 Eastern Idaho Railroad itinerary.

The Nevada Northern Railway Excursion schedule includes an early Wednesday morning motorcar set on in Ely. The group will travel up Gleason Creek Canyon to the Ruth copper mines, return to Ely, run up the Hiline towards McGill then returning to Ely for an early afternoon motorcar set off.

Motorcar Operators West is returning to the Eastern Idaho Railroads Magic Valley Rail Tour on May 25th,26th,27th,28th, 2018. The 256 mile tour includes Saturdays North Side Branch from Burley to Rupert to Jerome and return to Burley. On Sunday the Twin Falls Branch from Burley to Twin Falls to Buhl then return to Burley. The Monday run is from Burley to Martin and return to Burley then to Declo then return to Burley for set off.

For the motorhomes I am working to secure space at the Cassia County Rodeo grounds which is about 100 feet from where we will be parking the cars overnight and holding the safety meetings. For the ones that were here in 2016 it is the same place you parked the RVs.

It is 1000 Miles and Sixteen days from Anchorage to Fairbanks, to Seward and back to Anchorage, covering virtually every mile of rail in the Alaskan Railway system and giving you sufficient days for independent exploration of the wonders of Alaska. You will have the opportunity to book your own tours and see what you’ve always wanted to explore in Alaska during your days off the rail.

The excursion is confirmed at this time with 22 currently onboard. The cost per car is also now confirmed at $7500 and is based on two participants per car. This amount includes the railroad fee, all fuel, lodging and transportation fees during the excursion. It also includes the welcome dinner, Wasilla Museum tour and dinner and benefit auction, plus the farewell Prime Rib or Salmon Dinner Cruise on scenic Resurrection Bay as well as all administrative & support costs. Passengers are welcome and will be charged separately for their expenses.

Other Expenses – In addition to your transportation to and from Alaska you will need to pay for the majority of your meals, leisure day activities and other incidentals. We will spend 16 days on the trip from Anchorage to Fairbanks and Seward and back with nine of those days on the rail. That leaves many days of freedom to take advantage of the Alaskan experience and plan as you wish.

Motorcar Operators West is proud to announce the 2018 Fall Color Tour of the Grand Canyon Railway and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. We will set on at Williams Arizona Sunday October 14th 2018 at the Williams engine house. Monday morning October 15th we will proceed to the Canyon behind the passenger train for 3 days and 2 nights at the Kachina and Thunderbird lodges at the edge of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon to enjoy the attractions and sights. We will return to Williams on Wednesday afternoon October 17th for setoff at the Williams engine house, a 126 mile roundtrip through the high desert and pine trees to the fabulous Grand Canyon.

The total costs will be based on 2 persons per room of $830.00 for a street facing room and $869.00 for a canyon facing room. This includes the park entrance fee, Insurance fee, railroad fee, National Park insurance fee, each motorcar national park entrance fee, baggage and room attendant fees. Each room has 2 queen beds with TV and phone. There are a few king bed rooms in the Thunderbird lodge for the same price available to our group. There is an extra charge of 25.00 per person for the 3rd and 4th person per room. The excursion is limited to 25 cars. Three additional rooms are available to our group if you wish to bring a guest.
