What Is The Cloud And Am I Using It? — A one-class course on Thursday, May 10, 6:30 pm to 9 pm, $39. The Cloud refers to the sharing of data and programs over the Internet. Some common examples of using the Cloud are sharing files using Drop Box or One Drive, backing up important data using Carbonite, keeping track of a schedule using Google Calendar, using online versions of Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, using Google Docs to create and collaborate on documents, using online versions of popular programs such as Quickbooks, using Amazon to access a music library from anywhere, and so on. Concepts and usage of the Cloud will be demonstrated with a Windows PC, with a tablet, and with a Chromebook. Come to this one-night demonstration and discussion to finally understand what is meant by “The Cloud.”

Test Drive A New Career, Adult Internships And Encore Career Possibilities — A one-class course on Tuesday, May 8, 6:30 pm to 8 pm, $39. For adults newly out of work, underemployed, working part-time, nearing retirement, or those ready to rejoin the workforce, the course will explore the possibilities of returning to the workforce via structured, short-term internships that help explore new fields while gaining valuable work experience. Test drive a new career in real-world settings. The course will try to match attendees with business owners eager to mentor in exchange for time and a “roll up your sleeve” attitude. Confused About Medicaid? — A one-time class on Wednesday, May 9, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, $29. This course will help simplify the complexities, layout process, terminology, and resources around Medicaid for those curious about the level of funding, changes, and qualification. Government and stat funded Medicaid is a very complicated process, with spenddowns, asset preservation, and family gifting all major considerations. Remember, Medicaid and Medicare are separate but potentially related programs depending on individual situations.

Tai Chi Easy, Five Form Series — A four-class course on Thursdays, starting May 10, 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, $99. Look and feel like a Tai Chi expert. Master five forms in five one hour sessions and activate “the healer within” using traditional Chinese techniques to release the body’s own medicine through gentle movement, self-applied reflexology, meditation, and breathing providing simple and effective self-care skills that can be used throughout life and well into the “successful aging” process. The workshop will be led by Lady Chakra Holistic Healing’s Rev. Audra J. Mace, a certified tai chi easy practice leader, trained by the author and director of the Institute of Integral Qi Gong and Tai Chi, Dr Roger Jahnke.

The Five Tibetans — A four-class course on Thursdays, starting May 10, 7 pm to 8:15 pm, $99. Learn five vital and dynamic exercises practiced by Tibetan lamas for generations designed to stem the aging process. Rhapsodized as the “fountain of youth”, the exercises increase strength, energy, and mental alertness. Once fully integrated into daily life, practitioners will feel profound and lasting effects. Savor The Flavor Of Providence, Rhode Island, Federal Hill And Little Italy — A day trip on Saturday, May 19, departs from Cromwell at 7:45 am, $115. Savor the Flavor of Providence, R.I. After arriving the day will begin at Scalio’s Bakery, well-known for its fine bread and pastries. A tour and demonstration along with a sampling of pastry and coffee or tea will be offered. The day will continue on to Trattoria Zooma, a Southern Italian kitchen featuring handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza. The chef delights and entertains visitors with a tableside demonstration of the techniques used in pizza making. Enjoy a five-course family-style meal, which will include salad, an assortment of grilled pizzas, fried mozzarella, potato gnocchi, penne pasta, and chicken marsala with cannoli and coffee. Following lunch, the group can stroll over to Venda’s Ravioli Emporium to shop for fine Italian foods, olive oil, cheeses, and more. The day will end with a riding Tour of Providence with a local step on guide before returning to Cromwell. The Newtown departure will be from the Cromwell Park and Ride lot. Introduction To PowerPoint — A two-class course being offered on Wednesdays, starting May 16, 6:30 pm to 9 pm, $69. PowerPoint is the most commonly used presentation program available, both in school and for business. PowerPoint allows users to create dynamic presentations that can include text, lists, tables, charts, graphics, transitions, and animations. This hands-on workshop will show how to get the most out of PowerPoint using all of the features just mentioned.
