The world exhibitions organised from 1851 had a central economic purpose, to show the capacities of industry, agriculture and communications. The fairs would present not only novelties but also products for selling, able to renew or to strengthen the process of production natural gas in spanish and communication. Each exhibition presented an iconic element, closely related to science and technology. In addition, some exhibitions were centred in technological issues, such as the 1881 Paris exhibition on electricity. For the historian, the world fairs have interest no only as witnesses of several moments of the history of science and a gas is compressed at a constant pressure of technology but also the different ways of diffusion and appropriation in different national and social contexts.
