Most people talk about visiting Michigan in the summer. This weekend we experienced a perfect alternative, before the summer crowds. It was great to get a head start on the season, especially because the traffic was light, there was no waiting at restaurants and more importantly for ice cream. The pass gas in spanish high ceilings and extra large windows created an airy atmosphere the minute we walked in the door. It was decorated to perfection, every little detail made us feel like someone went out of their way for us. The inside of the house is painted in soft summer colors. It addition, the driveway is paved, the front porch is inviting with chairs where we could enjoy the fresh air. There are also places to sit or dine in the back of the house. The setting is private, but not isolated. I felt very safe. Secondly, the location is perfect. The private beach is a short walk down the country road. We chose to take the steps down to the water electricity billy elliot backing track, and there is a tram available as well. Lake Michigan never ceases to impress and amaze me. Besides having lake access and a nice neighborhood, the house is conveniently set between South Haven to the south, nearby Fennville, then to the north is Saugatuck/Douglass and Holland. In addition to the larger cities, there is a nearby grocery store, deli and pizza pick up place, the Glen Market. We spent time in South Haven, walking to the light house, having dinner, then getting groceries at Meijers and ice cream at Sherman’s, an unbelievably delicious brand of ice cream. We also national gas average 2007 visited Holland, a beautiful place, and ate dinner in Fennville. This weekend I felt like I was in one of those Pure Michigan commercials that I usually swear at because the scenery and feeling seemed to be unreal and unattainable.
