So, I just got back into (9th grade) band (after band in 6th 7th grade) and I seem to do fine during rehearsals, pretty consistently hitting the high B (as in the B above the staff) in one part of one of the songs we played, however, we just had a concert a few days ago and my range/endurance gas refrigerator not cooling suffered greatly, which seemed to stem from an extreme nervousness/tension after not having a concert for more than a year. As I said, I could pretty easily hit the high B, but during the concert, I could barely even play a middle C. Maybe part of this is due to the ridiculous warm up I did a few minutes before the concert, but I think it’s mostly due to the tension I mentioned earlier.

Congrats! You have a whole life of musical adventures ahead of you!(Me I´m at the other end… ) Of course you will experience some form anxiety – this is quite natural! Prior to every performance the system tries to establish a mode of activity/preparation starting the inborn patterns; pulse, aspiration etc rising. This might gas news today be understood as signs of uncalled for anxiety but it is not! Your brain enters an activity mode (a relevance network). Hence the experience of tension rising.

Another aspect is the psychological one; sometimes it just so happens that your eyes detect a high youtube electricity note later on -what might happen is that you begin to wonder can I nail that one maybe I am too tired so I´ll miss it A quite natural thought – but it might cause some anxiety and then you notice this and then you will get anxiety over what seems to be anxiety, fear of fear. The trick is not to avoid the thoughts but rephrase them (I feel a certain tension – yeah and so what???)! They are based on an assumption of what will happen – not the fact that you have young well prepared lips and you know what you are doing electricity physics definition. Besides that a missed note is not the end of the world. But the thought that a missed note is the end of the world is fuel for rising anxiety.

Suggestion: try practicing the high-note passages every day for several weeks before an upcoming performance. Just a few bars at a time, with plenty of rest between each attempt. Try to improve accuracy in hitting the notes without using excessive mouthpiece pressure or twisting your embouchure gas under 3 dollars out of position. Just a few times through during each practice session, then practice other things you need to work on. Don’t play to exhaustion–you’ll know when you grade 9 electricity module’re gassed and need to end the session.

Over time, it will get easier to play the high-note excerpts comfortably, accurately, and efficiently. It will also reduce some of the anxiety from wondering if you’re gonna be able to hit those notes. There are no guarantees in life, but knowing that you’ve done it plenty of times before should make you feel pretty good about your chances.
