Secluded, off-grid, dog-friendly cabin on p… – vrbo gas south

Please note that this is a completely off-grid, seasonal cabin May – November). It does not have indoor plumbing, running water, or electricity. It does have a fairly well-equipped kitchen with an old-style sink basin, a propane-powered refrigerator, and a conventional, propane-powered oven and stove. It’s most appealing to hikers, campers, and people who love the peace and solitude of the outdoors. It has 250 feet of (private) shore frontage, and when you are sitting on the dock, you’ll have almost complete privacy.

We are a bit "old-school" when it comes to reserving our cabin. We like to have contact with prospective guests by phone or email before accepting a reservation. This is to help ensure that there are no misunderstandings regarding the cabin’s rustic features and lack of conventional amenities. Please note that mid-June through mid-September (our high season), we normally rent by the week only, with Saturday being the changeover day. For weekly rentals off-season, dates are flexible.

We don’t charge any additional fees for dogs, for firewood, or for the use of our canoe. (Please note — if you would like to pay by check (bank check or personal check), you can save considerable $ vs. using VRBO’s online payment system. Paying by check also saves the owners considerable $. That said, we are happy to accept online payments via VRBO’s online system for those more comfortable with this method.)

The dog and I had a great time at this cabin. I like to find out of the way – off grid places to escape to for some quiet time, and this place was a good one. There is a good-sized dock down in front of the house to sit on in the morning sun and read. There was ample good firewood supplied and a good working stove that warmed the place up nicely on the colder nights, the facilities were also good. The owners are great and very responsive to any problems, I woke up one morning to find the refrigerator not functioning, by 10:00am the property manager had brought by a block of ice and put it in the fridge and by and by 2:00pm the repair service, in about 5 minutes, had it running normal again! The deck on the front has two very comfortable wooden Adirondack chairs and a gas grill, of these I made good use. The canoe is nice and the lake was quiet for a paddle. The find the Machias area very desirable with lots to do and explore. We found a trail map on the table with some hiking recommendations and did a hike with a great view about 20 minutes away. I plan to visit again!
