Lahore : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences (PIN) at General Hospital, here today. After the inauguration, he visited different wards and inquired after the health of the patients and asked about the medical facilities.

Chief Minister said that serving the ailing humanity is the foremost agenda of the government and public’s right has been returned in shape of better facilities. Improving the health sector according to international standards is my mission, he said. The journey of transforming the government-run hospitals according to international standards has been accelerated and prayers of the ailing humanity have further augmented my passion and commitment, he added.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister was told that ten-storey building of Punjab Institute of Neurosciences has been constructed with a cost of Rs. 3 billion. It’s a 500-beded facility including 100-beds emergency while two neuro-theaters will work round-the-clock to cope with emergencies. The eight operation theaters will provide different facilities under one roof and most modern 3 Tesla MRI and 128 slice CT scan machines have been installed as well. Biometric, infection- control, theaters’ automation and pharmacy management systems have been introduced in the PIN while round-the-clock CCTV monitoring system has been placed for continuous monitoring of cleanliness and security situation.

Talking to the media-persons after the inauguration, the Chief Minister said that some sections of PIN were working for the last few months but this state-of-the-art institution has been fully operationalized today. As many as eight operation theaters have been set up which can be compared with any hospital of the developed world with regard to facilities and quality. Best doctors and other staff are available and pathology lab has also been established, he added. The pathology labs set up in DHQ hospitals by the Punjab government are no less than international standards but I am tremendously happy to see the state-of-the-art pathology lab in this institution, he said. Information Technology has been optimally utilized to develop the best system. This institution is an important achievement in the field of healthcare by the Punjab government, he added.

The Chief Minister congratulated health minister Kh. Salman Rafique, secretary health Najam Shah, Principal PGMI Prof. Ghaus-ul-Nabi, project director Dr. Khalid Mehmood and others and said that patients and their attendants are thankful for establishing this most modern institution.

Replying to different questions of the media, the Chief Minister said that the recent UNDP report is self explanatory as Punjab is leading the other provinces with regard to development. However, the journey is long and we have to reach to the destination by working day and night, he said.

However, we have achieved all such targets in different sectors by introducing far-reaching reforms. The claimants of 100 days have ruined the KPK in five years, he maintained. Those who claimed of producing electricity for KPK and rest of the country have, in fact, generated minus six megawatts electricity during the last five years. The people will decide about their fate themselves, he added.

To a question about load-shedding and energy projects, the Chief Minister said that duration of load-shedding was reached to 20 hours a day in 2013 and during this period, electricity remained unavailable even during the times of Sehri, Iftar and Namaz-e-Taraweeh. The situation is diametrically opposed today with regard to load-shedding, he added. The darkness of load-shedding has been rapidly depleted due to the continuous efforts of the PML-N government.

Similarly, six hospitals of 100-beds capacity each have been constructed during one and a half years in Kahna Nau, Badian, Raiwind, Sabzazar and other areas. These details should be highlighted and the people should be apprised about the facts, concluded the Chief Minister.

He visited various departments after inauguration Punjab Institute of Neurosciences. Chief Minister went to pathology lab, hospital management system, ICU and other departments and lauded the medical facilities being provided there to the patients. He also appreciated the concerned authorities for keeping the record of the patients’ treatment up-to-date with the help of information technology.

Chief Minister while lauded Principal Prof. Ghaus-ul-Nabi, MS Salauddin, surgeons and Project Director Professor of Neuro Surgery Dr. Khalid Mehmood said that all of them have worked as a team for making this institute. inaugurated lgh MS Salauddin Principal Prof. Ghaus-ul-Nabi Punjab Institute of Neurosciences Shahbaz Sharif 2018-05-22
