If you are looking for a great 4 bedroom home on a sun drenched island you can’t go wrong here. Beach access is important and it is just a short walk away but sun and pool are most important to us and our family loved it. Frankly, the Villas right on the beach are either in some state of disrepair or ridiculously expensive so we made the right choice! The owners, Heather and Steve, worked with us in the first couple days to get a couple electrical issues worked out but everything went smoothly after that. The great room is beautiful with huge folding doors to make the room a part of the outside pool and patio. The Villa is effectively new so bathrooms, appliances, air conditioning all worked perfectly. We had no mosquitoes which was a pleasant surprise but you will see many centipedes (not sure if it is seasonal issue) – mostly in the great room as they can come in under the big doors. Not a big deal at all – just sweep them up each morning. Even the little ones with us just made a game of it (great pictures of them doing "worm patrol"). Although the pool is routinely cleaned weekly, and they will call if it needs it between times, we just asked Stacia the housekeeper to give us access to the pool vacuum hose and we vacuumed the pool daily. We were a little apprehensive about the drive to the Villa since our arrival time was close to dark but between Heather’s VERY thorough directions and Google Maps we had no driving issues at all. The Villa is an easy drive to more beaches, the village of Holetown which has shopping, stores (beautiful new Masseys grocery) and restaurants. Gotta be on the lookout for pedestrians as there are many areas where the roads are narrow and it can be tough to see people standing close to the berm. Slow down, pay attention, and let someone else in the vehicle navigate for you….definitely cannot be distracted on the roads! Especially true for those of us not used to driving on the left! This was our first time on Barbados so I cannot say we know the restaurant scene at all but we enjoyed Just Grillin’ with it’s laid back feel, Mullins Beach Bar (great burgers) and the Fish Pot on the upper end of things. We also found a couple places that we won’t bother with again but there are plenty of places we didn’t get a chance to try and we will look forward to exploring more of them on our next visit! Enjoy!
