We returned last night from what can only be described as one of the best vacations this family has have ever been lucky enough to have experienced. We travel quite a bit and love to explore and I’m not sure there is a better place to explore than Costa Rica. There were 7 of us ranging from 11 to 64 and it almost felt like we had access to our own luxury hotel in the middle of the rainforest. From the amazing views to the perfect pool with the super fun slide this home was stunning from top to bottom (which is really saying something considering all of the levels it has).

Every day we would wake up with our coffee and go outside and listen to the sounds of the rainforest as the sun came up and brought life to the day. The howler monkeys mixed with the birds and insects and ocean made for a chorus of sound that I have never experienced before. On multiple days we were greeted by the capuchins as they ran through the property and put on a show. On other days we were in the middle of a Titi monkey play session as they ran through the trees and seemingly welcomed us into their world for a bit. And all but one day we were able to spot the resident sloth in the tree who we named Samuel (when imitating his voice please speak in approximately 1/4 speed). On a side note we NEVER fed the monkeys as it was explained to us how dangerous it was for them.

The beauty of this property was also matched by the staff they had taking care of it. Jeanette was there every day to clean and keep the inside of the home in perfect shape, she always had a smile and you barely noticed her as she kept the inside spotless. Wiston took care of the outside of the property and also was great at spotting Samuel! He was super helpful and really interesting to talk to, a really nice guy who worked hard to keep the property perfect for our enjoyment. Thank you both so much!

All in all a beautiful property with so much to offer (I could go on all day). We all wish we had more time there and are sad to be home. That being said we so look forward to going back, thank you so much Sari and Davis for opening your beautiful home to us and we really hope to be back again this time next year as I may have found a new favorite place on earth. For anyone still reading this please don’t just listen to what I have said but go see for yourself. You will have no regrets as this is truly a special property.

Our 50th Wedding Celebration with 14 family members was truly amazing! The villa was better than we could have ever imagined; room sizes were large and luxurious, house was immaculate, and the views were the best ever from sunrise to sunset. There was plenty of room for all of us – sleeping, dining, cooking, and (of course) the magnificent pool! We spent the mornings either with tours (thanks to Melissa at Byblos) or at the nearby beaches; the afternoons were times of relaxation with the Jacuzzi, pool (the slide was a highlight!), or just relaxing on one of the many balconies that overlooked the Pacific. Shopping at the farmer’s market in Quepos was a must as we have chefs in the family. We also hired a chef to prepare a dinner at the villa (excellent cuisine and recommended by Melissa). The horseback riding tour, surfing lessons, canopy mid-world adventure, and private guide at Manuel Antonio were top rate (again courtesy of Melissa at Byblos)! It was an added gift to have the concierge at Byblos (Elizabeth) arrange for local transportation and making our stay worry-free. She even arranged to have very special birthday cake for our grand daughter who turned 12 during our stay! Pre-arrangements with Melissa on a shuttle to and from the airport in San Jose was, again, something that made our vacation worry-free! There were absolutely no glitches! Every air-conditioned vehicle arrived on-time, and we felt very safe with the transportation accommodations. Wiston and Jeanette were very sweet, efficient, and accommodating for the 14 of us. Bless them.

We had a wonderful stay at The Rising Sun. The house is beautiful and the view is breathtaking. We had a group of 12 people and the house and guest house allowed us plenty of space to spread out, relax and have privacy yet the living room/common area, patio and pool areas allowed for plenty of group entertainment. We spent many evenings in the pool and on the slide (it’s definitely not just for kids!). Each morning we woke to the sound of Howler monkeys and then were entertained by the white faced capuchin monkeys who greeted us on the patio! The house is equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The master shower is awesome! The house is walking distance to many restaurants/shops and is a short drive to the beach. The concierge at Hotel Byblos was helpful with any questions we had and the housekeeping staff provided great service. We met Sari and Davis while we were there and they were gracious and accommodating and helped us book a shuttle to the airport. We would definitely recommend scheduling an in-house dinner with Chef Roger–the surf and turf was amazing!! We had an amazing time in Costa Rica and would definitely return!
