Terra nightmare more like.. – review of terramar hotel, calella, spain – tripadvisor electricity generation by country

We could also hear other guests getting "giggy" and the steel spring bed creaking under the strain. It was obvious that the people involved were really enjoying there time as every command/ groan and grunt was clear to hear. This all ceased when… I don’t know where to start with this review…we should have believed the terrible reviews before booking. In arrival, reception person was rude and obnoxious, no friendly welcome to the "hotel", only interested in collecting visitors tax and money for safety deposit box. €45 down before even having room key handed over. Reception area decor was very dated although clean. Coming out of the lift onto the floor we had been allocated was a total shock. Dimly lit, so dark it was really difficult to read the direction signs to the correct corridor to our room. Corridors very poorly illuminated and resembled more of a penal institution. The room we were allocated was large and clean however our twin beds were basic steel fold up camp bed frames with incredibly firm mattresses that had definately seen better days. There was no main light in the room only 2 small wall mounted bed side lights that were useless. There was only one electrical socket in the bedroom area. The building seems to have no sound insulation. We were kept up most nights as we could clearly hear neighbours above/ aside/ below, arguing – fighting – being assaulted etc. We could also hear other guests getting "giggy" and the steel spring bed creaking under the strain. It was obvious that the people involved were really enjoying there time as every command/ groan and grunt was clear to hear. This all ceased when other people crashed into their room and a fight broke out. We were informed by neighbouring holiday makers not to pay for the remote for the TV as no English speaking channels were available. The TV was broken on our arrival at the hotel room. One morning, one of the corridors leading to the lift/ stair area was flooded with vomit. No attempt had been made for this to be cleared. Police were in attendance in more than one occasion, either returning/ removing rowdy guest (s) The bathroom was more of a shock as the shower area was so small that it was impossible to have a shower without the shower curtain sticking to your body. This then caused the bathroom are to flood. All Inclusive is a waste of money in our humble opinion. The food will only be edible if your normal diet is made up of like warm/ cold food. When we raised concern that eggs/ meat had been cooked and were now out on display cold and in "gravy " we were informed that a microwave was available…. Bar staff continually refused to serve people unless they returned and reused there original glass. After being… More Show less

DO NOT VISIT THIS HOTEL AT ANY COST!! I’m a 50 year old woman and was abused repeatedly during my stay by a very drunk and very abusive young lad, I reported this several times and was told there was nothing they could do about it!! I was with my family including my 2 year old granddaughter while all of this was going on. This hotel is very noisy and when we checked in one of the other guests said welcome to hotel California to us!! How right he was!! THE FOOD – IM NOT SURE WHERE TO START – ATROCIOUS IS THE ONLY WORD I CAN THINK OF, it was always stone cold and inedible!! Now I have stayed in a lot of hotels in this area and other areas of Spain and I’m not kidding when I say that this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in by far!! I’m usually the type of person who makes the best of any situation but this hotel was UNBEARABLE!! SLEEP – NOT POSSIBLE DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF DRUNK PEOPLE SHOUTING AND FIGHTING AND JUMPING IN THE POOL IN THE EARLY HOURS OF THE MORNING AND AGAIN NOTHING BEING DONE ABOUT IT!! I saw the police at this hotel at least 4 times during our 1 week stay for fighting and violence!! All in all if you want a decent holiday then avoid this hotel at ALL COSTS!!!!
