Beautiful, 100ft+ visibility, Easy accesses.. From Varadero straight south to the town of PLAYA LARGA, located at the north end of the Bay of Pigs along Hwy 11. As you enter Playa Larga, the road makes a wide 90 degree turn to the east and widens temporarily to a divided highway. At that point there is a CIMEX gas station marked Km.141 on your right. Get gas and food now, there is not much beyond this point. Follow the highway 11/122 for about 22.3km south-east. The TANK (a painted concrete barrel with the diver flag painted, (see picture) will be on your right hand side, with 3 small buildings, renting you a snorkel and flipper masks, drinks and little else. Recommend you bring your equipment as they may not be open. Entry into water is a bit strenuous, just be sure to have booties on as the first 20 feet is rocky, thereafter all sand. A gentile slope to the right will get you to a depth of about grade 6 science electricity unit test 75 feet to the edge of the wall. Corals are plentiful and visibility is 100ft+. At about 50-60 feet, 300 meters from the entry point in a northwesterly direction you find a 50ft pre-sunken fishing boat on a coral ledge. Fun to crawl around. Great site for beginner and experienced divers. Well preserved corals. Nice Caribbean waters.

While staying on the North part of the island (Jibacoa) the weather was horrible (rain and wind – not good diving conditions), our dive master on the resort suggested to go to Bay of Pigs to get two dives in. My boyfriend and I, along with another couple, climbed in a ’56 Ford and headed south for the 2.5hr trip. Once there we soon realized it was a VERY busy spot. Our driver handled payment and teh such and we were soon setting up our diving equipment. Once ready we had to wait to figure out which dive master we would be getting. Pedro was our dive master for the first dive. Getting into the water there is a VERY slippery entrance after walking along a gravel pathway (not pleasant in bare feet). The entrance was more than to be desired. I know that storms come in and could possibly destroy any decking or walk ways but something would be nice. Also maybe an easier way to get into the water would be nice as well. Overall the diving was great except that the maximum down time was 30mins. Didn’t really appreciate that after we drove that far to come up with more than half of your tank. The water was clear and clean. Visibility was great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1FtRnHenOI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDmMrEThlI8
