While there is a compelling reason to move to better and more efficient gas engines, it has been observed that a few textile and apparel units are unable to do so as the gas allocation policy remains archaic and needs to be modified.

If customers are allowed to replace their old engines with newer and more efficient engines, it will be possible to generate higher output more efficiently with the same allocation of gas.

Allocation of gas currently is on a per MW basis, which precludes the move to higher capacity / more efficient engines.
