December is already here and the halfway point of the school year is just around the corner. This holiday season often brings about thoughts of thankfulness, reflection, and resolutions. electricity worksheets for 4th grade I continue to be thankful for the wonderful opportunity I have been given as principal of Cary Elementary School. As the new year approaches, many take the time to look ahead and make resolutions. At school, we similarly reflect on our successes and continue to search for ways to improve. As principal, I challenge our students, teachers, and myself to do the same. k gas cylinder We do this on several occasions during the year, and while time consuming, feel it is important to discuss our school with the students to get their feedback and challenge them to look ahead and set their own personal goals. I often ask students two simple questions: “What do you want?” and “How can you get it?” I find that students can often tell us what they would like to achieve but have more difficulty coming up with a plan to make that happen. From this we have discussions of examples and hopefully develop some goals and a plan. On behalf of the entire staff, I want to wish all of you a happy, safe, and healthy holiday season and offer you the gift of thanks and appreciation for everything you do for our children. It is with mixed emotions that I let you all know I have tendered my resignation with WCPSS. gas works park events With over a year of careful thought and reflection I have decided to end my 20 year run in public education to embark on a career change to the corporate sector. While I had all intentions to finish out this school year, an opportunity was presented to me recently that I could not pass up. I will be going back to my teaching roots with a local growing IT company. With this opportunity comes a chance to apply my skills in new ways as well as to grow professionally over time.

It is not without a heavy heart that I leave Cary Elementary. It has been nothing short of an honor to work with the best staff, students, and families in Wake County. My last day will be December 4 but I will continue to be a part of the community. My boys will continue to learn and grow at Cary Elementary with the finest and most talented teachers around.
