The team will include about eight volunteers traveling in two 26-foot trucks. The team will be hosted by Cypress Creek Baptist Church. While there, they will be stocking the church distribution center, making supply deliveries and ministering to those in the shelter. The team will fly back to the D.C. area on Sept. 11.

The Park Valley Disaster Relief Team is in need of the following donations: cleaning supplies (including bleach), toiletries, baby formula, diapers (baby and adult), water, batteries, non-perishable food, manual can openers, flashlights, latex gloves, dust masks, biohazard suits, first aid kits and related items, over-the-counter medications, trash bags (contractor size), hand sanitizer, feminine hygiene products, paper products, school supplies, socks (new only), pillows (new only), blankets (new only), sleeping bags (new only), air mattresses (new only), cell phone chargers, insect repellant.

The Fauquier Farm Tails 4-H Club will be collecting personal hygiene items and bottled water as well as items for livestock and pets affected by Hurricane Harvey. The items can be brought from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9 to either Southern States, 4165 Catlett Road, in Calverton, or Murphy’s Motors, 164 Broadview Ave., in Warrenton.

Christ In Action of Manassas is deploying teams to Texas as part of the Christ In Action Network as they have for other natural disasters across the country. In the past, the team has offered meals, warehouse space, chainsaw, skid steers to remove debris, excavators for demolition, crews to help muck out houses, hot showers, portable toilets, refrigeration units, portable generators and potable water.

General’s Ridge Golf Course, 9701 Manassas Drive, Manassas Park, is collecting donations of toiletries through the end of September. There will be special golf rates for those who donate, or make a financial donation of more than $10 — Monday-Friday rate $20, weekend and holiday rate: $35.

A Culpeper man has received deployment orders to help Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas as the Salvation Army’s logistics chief. Micky Cundiff is a longtime resident of Culpeper County and Salvation Army employee at our summer camp, Camp Happyland. His deployment date is Saturday, Sept. 9.

The society is accepting monetary donations to be used for relief and recovery support to families in the impact zones. The society was built on person-to-person assistance in times of need. In cases such as Hurricane Harvey, the society aids disaster survivors with immediate help and, as conditions warrant, the “House in a Box” program, which provides critical items to furnish an entire home — from the kitchen to the bathroom to the bedroom, including furniture, dishes, towels, utensils and bedding.
