Upscale mountain vacation 12 minutes from d… – vrbo electricity transformer near house

We had a little family reunion at this vacation house in the mountains. The house is perfect for families with kids. Me and my husband with our 3 kids and my sister in law, her husband and her 2 kids had a blast. Some roads around this house are pretty much like a continuous roller coaster.. it was so hilarious with the kids in the van, we had our photos clicked at the tail of the dragon. The dragon store is very impressive with lots of motorcycles it was almost like a scene from a movie. They have good food and there are few nice restaurants in Robbinsville town as well. The lake is very close so we went fishing one day and spent one day at Gatlinburg and also a day at the Joyce Kilmer forest with driving around Cherohala skyway. Very scenic and pleasant routes! We also enjoyed this house a lot especially the back porch with the grill was awesome. Kitchen is pretty big and rooms are huge with comfortable beds. Three days was almost too short for our vacation, we will definitely come back next year with bigger group. We found the prices very reasonable and house was perfect for us. Thank you Jay for providing us a detailed list of things to do around.

10 of us spent 3 days in the home. On the up side, the home is spacious and you won’t find a better bargain to sleep 10 people. There were a lot of fun things to do within 30-40 minutes of the home, including horseback riding, hiking, river rafting, and zip lining. We also made the 2-hour trek to Dollywood and that was very doable. There was a problem with the well supplying water to the home on our first day, however, Jay notified us ahead of time and did arrange alternate lodging at another VRBO home down the street. Jay worked hard to fix the problem and we were able to get into the home the next day.

There is a definite smell of mildew in the home, perhaps from wood getting damp if the air conditioner isn’t run during the warm season? I didn’t see any actual mold, but the smell is quite strong. The floors didn’t appear to have been cleaned before we arrived, perhaps because of the maintenance which had gone on before our arrival. The kitchen is reasonably stocked with plates, glasses, and silverware, but I would suggest adding some bowls. We tried to feed the kids cereal one morning and had to drive 10 minutes to Robbinsville to buy foam bowls. Also, if you bring kids, be aware that although the home is quite spacious there is really not a yard for them to play in.

We appreciate your feedback but we also found some information misleading and would like to clarify it. We’ve rented to about 9 groups so for since the start of the season this year and we have not received a single complaint about the moldy smell in the house. I myself have spent about 30 days at this house between feb and march to get the house cleaned and ready with some new furniture and appliances. During this stay me and Rita had not picked up on any moldy smell also we would like to clarify that there is no damp wood in the house and even the crawl space is completely dry at all times and is very well ventilated and have moisture barrier all the way up to the walls.

It’s important to understand that during the early spring season due to too much rain and humidity the houses in the mountains do sometimes have a negligible musty smell and that goes away as weather gets warmer but that is just because there is so much moisture outside the house and has nothing to do with the condition of the house in particular.

Also if you are expecting to experience a burst of sweet smell as you enter the vacation house like you would get in a hotel, you will be disappointed as unlike hotels we don’t use any air fresheners to mask odors. We like to keep this house in natural condition and we try to refrain from using any harsh chemicals or artificial air fresheners and our renters like it that way too.

We are sorry about not having enough bowls and wish you would have called Rita about it as she would’ve been more than happy to arrange them at no cost to you. Rita lives just next door and helps with cleaning the house and we ask each guest to contact Rita for anything as her phone number is on the arrival document that we provide to each guest before arrival. We will definitely be adding more bowls.

The yard in front of the house where we have picnic table and chairs is clearly shown in the pictures before you reserve the house and is generally enough for families with kids to play around. Unfortunately Rita and I cannot do anything to increase the size of the yard at this time.

I wish you would have brought these matters to us and given us a chance to explain before submitting a 3 star review. We are not a big corporate with chain of hotels and we care about our renter’s experience at this house, we take all matters very seriously and work very hard to offer exceptional value for your money consistently. We wish you well.

Hi travelers, we stayed at this house for our trip to the best mountains road in the north east, we had one goal in mind and that was ripping through the canyons. We decided to come up here early in the season so it’s not too crowded. This house has many good features that would be appreciated by anyone hauling their toys here. The driveway is flat and had enough space to park all our six Miatas. It was amazing to spend all day at the dragon and cherohala skyway and then come back to this house and relax by the fire pit with mountains and our miatas in the background. We loved this house, our group of 12 adults fit in fine here, big rooms, big kitchen and the extra room downstairs was a big plus. The water pressure was great for morning showers and it’s great to have a house phone as we couldn’t get a good cell phone coverage in the area. The washer and dryer was also a big help. I highly appreciate the owners for being flexible with us and letting us check-in a little earlier than the standard time. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this house to anyone coming to enjoy the mountains.
