I am regularly travelling, often over long weekends, so may be slow to respond to questions. It helps if you remember to {{ ping}} me on discussions that are not kept on this page. Sometimes I am available on IRC #wikimedia-commons, but my connection is flakey, so private messages easily get lost each time a connection drops. Feel free to email or become a contact on Telegram or Twitter where messages are persistent, for a more reliable off-wiki discussion. Keep in mind I lose track of emails too, even those I planned to reply to.

Faebot is alive in different places, so some tasks running on Labs have proven stability and carry on regardless of whether human me is still around. However tasks gaz 67b for sale running from my local desktop may pause when my home machine is off for safety reasons. A few tasks run on a headless Raspberry Pi, which should be more resilient as it can continue unattended. — Fæ ( talk) 12:16, 5 January 2019 (UTC)

If you are concerned that a category gets flooded with automated uploads, check that a template like {{ Disambig}}, {{ Photographs}}, {{ Categorise}}, {{ CatDiffuse}} or {{ CatCat}} has been applied before complaining. In the case of my batch upload projects, any category marked this way will not be added to new photographs. — Fæ ( talk) 16:32, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

I was wondering, if you still have the scripts to hand, would it be possible to do a similar job on the BL’s Crace Collection of maps of London? [1] (about 1200 in all, of which about 285 have georeferencing). We have a few low-res uploads in c:Category:Crace_Collection, but it would be great to have the whole lot in high resolution — there are some lovely maps there, eg a whole clutch from wb state electricity board recruitment the Grosvenor Estate relating to the development of Pimlico [2].

It would be great to have these on Commons, both in their own right; and also because I’m hoping the Layers of London project [3] might be interested in some of the ones that have been georeferenced (and also some of the Goad maps) — for them it would be a lot easier to deal with whole images from Commons as a starting point, rather than zoomified ones at the BL.

Tiny little extra to the request: it would be great if the Commons filenames could include the BL shelfmark, eg – BL Maps Crace Port. 8.39 for [4] – this is quite helpful for seeing what’s in a category, and where it’s come from. Thanks! Jheald ( talk) 18:52, 10 December 2018 (UTC) I will take a look, but realistically a proper look may have to wait to the end of the month. — Fæ ( talk) 22:30, 10 December 2018 (UTC) ESA electricity and magnetism quiz questions duplicate pictures [ edit ]

Category:ESA images (review needed) and found some duplicates of pictures previously imported in Category:ESA_files_uploaded_by_Revent. I didn’t check all of them but it’s likely all of these 254 photos have been duplicated. What should we do? Keep the oldest ones (those imported by Revent) or yours? vip ( talk) 15:39, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

@ Don-vip: The decision of which to keep should be based on which image is better quality (presumably these will all be digitally identical), and which have the better description. There’s no issue with deleting my uploads where they are duplicates, I am still puzzled as to exactly how these are created, as I do automatic duplicate checks before upload. — Fæ ( talk) 09:19, 27 February 2019 (UTC) Categorization [ edit ]

@ Fæ: searching for a photo of Frances Carpenter here on commons, I came across the images from Category:Chevy Chase Club and noticed the TIF files, I was wondering if it makes sense these files to be added to the same categories like for example jpg files. Thank you for gas x chewables reviews your time. Also, this being the last day of 2018, allow me to present my very best wishes for 2019! Lotje ( talk) 13:32, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

This search (for example) lists pictures in the collection of State Library of Victoria that are out of copyright. Each is available (via the Available online link) as a jpg, and as a high-res tif. The resultant Download pages lists them as Out of Copyright. Could you automate downloading all their OoC artworks, please? They have an API. Category:Paintings in the State Library gas x dosage chewable of Victoria has very few members. Andy Mabbett ( Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy’s edits 17:04, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi Fæ, In File:Clark sisters, five women, three-quarter length portraits, all facing front LCCN2004664300.jpg (and the TIFF), the photograph is mentioned as Frances Benjamin Johnston. However she was born in 1866, and this picture is from between 1840 and 1860, so she can’t be the photographer. According to the LoC, it was part of her collection, which is a bit different. How to fix this? Regards, Yann ( talk) 13:51, 15 March 2019 (UTC)

The LOC notes state Photographer unidentified, so though the ‘collection name’ is correct, where the notes indicate other photographers we can license on that basis. In this case, we can use the unknown template. I find electricity was invented in what year 68 matches, i.e. 34 unique photographs, where this correction can be made. Using this search, VFC can do this. If nobody else does, I may get to this later. — Fæ ( talk) 14:02, 15 March 2019 (UTC) Done with 2 exceptions that were uploaded in 2011, were there is no photographer declared. — Fæ ( talk) 14:39, 15 March 2019 (UTC) You’ve got an email! Hi, I’ll think about it, but I have not been that enthusiastic about policy work recently as a lot of these things run into the sand. Don’t take differences of opinions personally, long term members of our community should be able to have very varied views without that undermining our educational mission. Hi Fae. In the category above I have collected all the Roman Republican silver coins scattered in the Portable Antiquity Scheme. Next time I will try to assign each of them the specific category of the ancient Roman static electricity bill nye moneyer (1300 files !). Now reordering the files, I see that seven of them do not have the complete images: the image of the reverse or of the obverse is missing. Please could you upload them? It is about FindID 593096, 758916, 764075, 810853, 874626, 886345, 99932 (You’ll find them all gathered in the first line of the category). Thanks in advance. On something like File:Book of the Royal blue (1897) (14574637550).jpg ortega y gasset obras completas, which has some obviously wrong Flickr tags (e.g. bookyear:1897 bookdecade:1890 bookcentury:1800 for something clearly from 1909): do we keep the tags as a record of what this source says? Do we keep the title that gives the wrong year as a matter of filename stability? Or do we change these? – Jmabel ! talk 03:24, 22 March 2019 (UTC)

There is no special reason to keep Flickrtags if they are misleading, in fact the default is that they can be easily changed on Flickr. If any tags are factually incorrect, I see no harm in deleting them. With regard to filenames, fixing dates falls within the file move criteria, so that’s fine too. — Fæ ( talk) 07:52, 22 March 2019 (UTC) File:That was so nice to see a tweet from David Kernohan with a photo of Doug Symington wearing this very same shirt (well inverse colors) (15646566820).jpg [ edit ]

Only on request. Kicked off an update now. Looks like 290 new audio files https://petscan.wmflabs.org/?psid=8391607. It’s oddly slow running, I have not looked in to why, probably not worth the volunteer time to make it efficient. The log makes me think that the problem is duplicate detection taking a long time. This may be renames either on Commons or at Xenocanto, e.g. Brushfinch – Brush finch, which then are not detected as existing electricity water hose analogy filenames and need to be rejected by the API after upload to the WMF server. The update has been running over 3 days so far, so there may be an interruption as this is happening on my clunky 2nd hand X220 which will be switched off for travelling shortly (the battery is only good for about an hour).
