This superb apartment in Barcelona is a perfect solution for two couples, a family, or a group of friends. If you were searching for light and sun then you found your apartment as it receives sunlight during nearly all the day because of its six meter windows. It has two bedrooms, one with double bed and the other with two twin beds. There is a couch in the living room to accommodate up to six people. It also offers a sunny private TERRACE along with a table and four chairs, the ideal place to enjoy a fresh dinner at night to rest after a hard day.

The location is excellent and very central just at a five minute walk from the famous SAGRADA FAMILIA, the cathedral from Gaudi (area eixample) in the center of Barcelona. Near the Sagrada Familia you will find a bus stop to take the TOURISTIC BUS. At only a five minute walk you can find the ‘Avenue Gaudi,’ a pleasant avenue very appreciated for the spanish people, with a lot of restaurants and terraces to take a drink and observe the lighting of the cathedral by night (you can’t miss it). An other interesting place and also a stop of the modernist route (like the Sagrada Familia) is the HOSPITAL SANT PAU.

The area is especially SAFE and QUIET. At only 20 meters from the apartment you will find three supermarkets, an excellent bakery that makes delicious croissants for your breakfast and a biologic shop. From our apartment you can reach all the areas of Barcelona in a very short time. There are two metro lines (L-Lilac (II) et L-blue (V) at a two minute walk from the apartment that lead you directy to the Plaza Catalunya (Old City) 15 minutes or Pº de Gracia (ten minutes) . If you want to go to the beach you have also a direct bus that last around 15-20 minutes.

I will begin by stating that I am a very picky individual. I poured over reviews of hotels and apartments for hours before selecting this one. My main concern was to rent something close to where our daughter was studying abroad at the Hospital de Sant Paul. This apartment provided a short 5 minute or less walk to our daughter’s apartment. My second main concern was finding a location that was QUIET. I read so many reviews and left home thinking it was impossible to find a quiet place in such a lively city. I was pleasantly surprised that this apartment did seem very quiet to us. The unit offers a nice kitchen, and we were able to cook a couple of meals while we were there. The apartment does not have an oven, but has a microwave and cook top. I found all the utensils that I needed to make our simple meals and we enjoyed eating out on the terrace. The microwave and washer take a bit to figure out. The washer runs for hours and we ended up letting the clothes dry on the drying rack. All said I was happy to have one to wash a few of our things. This unit is on the second to the top floor. An elevator is available, but only two or three people can ride at a time. Not a problem for us as my family members found it a challenge to climb the seven floors. The beds were comfortable. My younger daughter is 13, so her room was plenty large enough for her, and she enjoyed having a space to herself at the end of the day. There are two single beds in that room but no a/c. In the master there is a comfortable queen bed and plenty of room. I even asked for a fan so I could have white noise in the background while sleeping and Frédéric provided one for me. I would definitely recommend this apartment if you are willing to take the metro where you need to go. The metro is a short walk and the area feels very safe. One suggestion is that you make a plan how to contact Frédéric before getting to Barcelona. We arrived on a very early flight and did not have a phone that worked in Spain. When we arrived at the apartment, it was closed and we were exhausted and out of ideas of what to do. We got lucky and within about 5 minutes Frédéric came out to take trash and we were able to go in and do the check in process. We could not get into the unit until after the cleaning was done, but we were able to get the keys. Frédéric does live in the building and you should ask how to contact him.

I am sure there are many nice hotels in Barcelona…but if you want to have a different type of experience during your stay, I strongly recommend you consider booking this unit through VRBO. First of all, it is an excellent location….a short stroll to the Metro (which is very clean and exceptionally reliable) and easily within comfortable walking distance of both the Sagrada Familia and the Hospital St. Pau (both UNESCO World Heritage Sites which you really must see). And the unit itself is perfect….a large balcony, a fully equipped kitchen, plenty of hot water, air conditioning, and lots of natural light. But the primary reason for staying here is the very helpful and pleasant staff on site. They are in the office in the lobby- always ready to recommend a good tapas bar or even arrange for an evening at a fantastic flamenco show. It really is the best of both worlds….you have a spacious modern clean apartment in a good location but you also have "concierge" type service. I had not used VRBO previously but I will in the future.

Located in the EIXAMPLE neighborhood, just a 10-minute walk from the famous church of the SAGRADA FAMILIA, the modernist masterpiece by Gaudi and the most visited monument in Barcelona, and close to the HOSPITAL SANT PAU, a complex of modernist buildings. Both monuments were declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites. At the church of the Sagrada Familia you will find the TOURIST BUS stop, which will take you to see the major tourist attractions of the city. It is a safe and bustling area with restaurants, café terraces and small shops. At night it becomes a pleasant family neighborhood perfect for taking time to relax. The public transportation in the area is excellent with numerous bus stops and 2 metro lines. The metro line nº5 (Station `Sant Pau I Dos de Maig`) is only a 2-minute walk away. You can reach the Passeig de Gracia (one of the main shopping streets that leads to downtown) in just 10 minutes. On the metro line nº2 (Station `Encants`), only a 5-minute walk away, you can go directly to Plaza Catalunya (main square in downtown Barcelona) and the Ramblas (main street downtown in the Gothic Quarter) in 12-15 minutes. These excellent public transportation options, that are easily accessible from the apartment, allow you to reach the main points of interest of the city of Barcelona in just a few minutes.
