Wedding anniversary weekend – review of penyard house, weston under penyard – tripadvisor electricity gif

However we had a lovely three night stay here. It’s a lovely hotel, clean and in a beautiful spot. The room we stayed in was traditionally furnished fitting for the style of the hotel. En suite bathroom was large, bed was comfortable, everything we needed was provided.

We didn’t sleep brilliantly due to a bit of noise disturbance. The first night it was someone playing guitar in one of the other rooms. Then the second night because we were lucky enough to have fabulous weather we had to open the window so because our window was almost directly above the front door it was people chatting on the porch till late, then suitcases being wheeled across the car park in the early morning, staff getting dropped off and loudly calling bye etc, a car alarm on the Sunday morning, oh and the snoring we could hear through the wall on the third night! Haha. To be fair we live on a farm in a very quiet spot in North Wales so anything like this would disturb us immediately, as it’s usually just the cockerels that are making a noise.

The breakfast was superb, I’m not keen on scrambled egg that has stood but once I sussed out I could order fresh eggs I was sorted. Order your eggs as soon as you… Booked online and got a great deal and then read some reviews on here and got slightly worried! However we had a lovely three night stay here. Order your eggs as soon as you get downstairs then get your orange juice and cereal. Then collect your bacon, sausage etc and your eggs should just be arriving 🙂 Plenty of everything all three mornings, and even hash browns available. I would have liked a bit of fruit with the cereals but that is something and nothing. We ate in the hotel both evenings we were there as we decided it was nice for us both to be able to have a drink. The food was good, we ate prawns, fish cake starters and both lamb rump the first night. And prawns again and duck pate, rump steak and faggots the second night. There wasn’t anything exciting as a dessert so we didn’t bother. I did enjoy what we had though and the staff were all pleasant and helpful. All in all a nice break for us away from the farm and the kids and some peaceful time together. Thank you More Show less

We decided to stay at Penyard House as we were visiting friends & family in Hereford. We booked through Hotel.com. The pictures on Hotel.com dont match the hotel at all. Check in was quick and simple. The grounds outside the hotel were maintained and clean. Plenty of spaces in car park. The windows and shutters were dirty and wood broken within the frames making the hotel on the outside look scruffy. The lobby looked great, clean and smart. The dining room is one to avoid, we got a take-away from Ross-on-Wye and asked for plates and knives & forks from a member of staff and ate in the room. Our room was clean but needs a repaint. We had a large TV with a lot of channels. The walls are chipped and dirty marks on the walls and curtains. The bed looked clean but in the morning my partner & I had been bit. Tried to mention it to reception staff and the girl just laughed so we stood there for about 20 seconds and left. Bathroom good size with hot water and a good flow. Breakfast was a disgrace scrambled egg very white and milky while the sausages were uncooked. The bacon on the other hand was burnt and black. Wi-Fi signal brilliant. Gym small mainly guys with hardly anything on with lots on show. Would we stay at Penyard House again NO. They claim its a 3-star more like a 1. I’m glad we only paid £62 for the night it’s not worth anymore than that I’m sorry to say.

We came to the murder mystery on Friday the 4th we arrived and found the Hotel to be very smart we booked in and had a very nice meal and enjoyed the Murder Mystery event and the actors were very good indeed although I thought there were to many guests which made it hard to here the script being read, also getting to all the black boards to see the information and clues was difficult but over all it the event was good. The bed in our room 77 was really bad it was worn out and past its best and should be scrapped which was a shame as the room was smashing and nice and clean. The staff tried there best and were great. Well we arrived for breakfast at 9.30 it was mayhem the food was slow coming out in very small quantities so by the time you waited for sausage the bacon and beans would run out very frustrating and very unorganized and shambolic. The restaurant manager Scott was now ware to be found or the general manager missing to and they left 3 poor youngsters to get all the flak terrible. The hotel needs proper managers in charge its at present a ship without a rudder. I would not visit again its a shame as with good managers it could be a good Hotel.
