Whispering pines lodge with spectacular vie… – homeaway gas in oil car

##

We stayed at Whispering Pines Lodge for a family skiing vacation in January. The home is really easy to get to, about a 10 minute drive from downtown Breckenridge with all its amenities. It was very clean and beautifully furnished. There was plenty of room for our combined family of nine and we didn’t even use the loft over the garage. Each sub family had their own floor and the master bedroom’s walk in closet was the size of a bedroom, so we were able to use for my granddaughter’s portable crib!

We cooked most of our meals and the kitchen had everything we needed, even to cook a traditional roast dinner – every appliance and cookware you could want. It is also well stocked with basic foodstuffs and seasonings so that you don’t have to buy them. The under floor heating works really well and kept the house very warm. We didn’t need to use the gas fireplace, although it looked very cozy. There is so much space we didn’t really get to use the well stocked downstairs game room and pool table. We loved the indoor hot tub, which was very clean and running perfectly. There are large sliding glass doors surrounding the hot tub that overlook the meadow behind the house, so we could sit in it and watch the snow fall with a view of the mountains behind.

Breckenridge has lots to do, even for the non-skiers, who discovered snow shoeing. We took the little ones on a sleigh ride at the Nordic center, which they loved. There is also a wonderful children’s museum in the town for children too young to go skiing, that offers parent’s nights out most nights of the week for children over 4.

The owners are really caring and were very responsive and easy to work with. They left a bottle of wine and a gift basket with things you might forget and need, such as sun screen and lip balm, and also bottles of water. Please take note of their excellent instructions that were sent in plenty of time ahead of our stay. We needed the four wheel drive vehicles, as it snowed on two of the days we were there and we had to leave quite early for the airport in Denver when the roads were still snow covered. Definitely heed the advise about hydrating as Breckenridge and the house are at 10,000 feet. Coming from sea level we were all feeling the altitude for the first few days.

This home had everything we were looking for – relaxing, plenty of space, and full of amenities. We were a group of 6 and had more than enough space. The master suite is completely on its own, with a sweet little reading nook (and a moutain view!) The Jacuzzi tub in the master bath was the perfect place to soak after hiking. We cooked several meals and found every tool we needed in the large kitchen. The living area was the perfect spot for reading in front of the fire. The garage is temperature controlled so the cars were protected overnight and cozier to get into in the morning on our way out to explore! We went into Breckenridge and the surrounding area for shopping, eating, hikes, etc – and found the drive to be simple, short and picturesque. I loved feeling like I was truly on vacation, without the common annoyances. Even in a large group there was space to be on my own, comfortable areas for gathering together, plenty of storage to keep the house tidy while we were there, and I went back home with clean clothes! This was truly the perfect spot for our group – relaxing and comfortable, while also close to town and area attractions. The owners are kind and respond quickly. We had no problems while we were there, but I feel certain if something had come up it would have been handled promptly given how responsive they were. We are definitely going back and will be staying here again!
