I booked a tour of Whale Island with the White Island tour company located at 15 The Strand. I received a confirmation via email. This was a special event for a friend’s birthday. We both took the day electricity news australia off work to see the birds on this special sanctuary that is a 90-100 minute drive from home. I checked the weather and it was fine. I missed a call at 5 pm the day before, that said they would be in touch at 0800 when the captain decided if the tour would proceed. We had to leave before 0800 to get there on time. Unfortunately, I received the call that the tour would not proceed at 0903 am this morning, after driving 90 minutes to be there for a 10 am departure (advice from company was to arrive at least 30 minutes early). We were advised upon arrival to 15 The strand, that there were high swells that would prevent our landing on Whale Island. Notwithstanding this, the heavier booked White island tour (which would traverse the electricity nw same waters) would be leaving on time (although White Island was much further away-90 minute boat ride versus 20 minute boat ride). I’m no ship captain, but the waters looked pretty placid from Whakatane to Whale Island and the sun was shining. We defaulted to have breakfast and found that the other Whale Island tour electric utility companies in arizona operator had already departed and landed on Whale Island with no issues whatsoever. It was pretty clear that the White Island tour operator just told a porky because there weren’t as many people as they would have liked on the Whale Island tour, so they cancelled it and did not provide effective, timely notice of the cancellation. I doubt that the high swells would have been an issue if there were 30 people instead of 5. They would have known there weren’t sufficient people the day before and could have sent a text to that effect. When asked why they didn’t send a text, they said we couldn’t possibly text so many people. Five people-really? We managed to salvage the day with some other activities in the area, but the experience with this tour operator was unsatisfactory. They offered no apology, no compensation or voucher to ease the pain of our wasted time, and treated us like we were stupid. Customer service does not seem to be their priority 2015 electricity prices.

However you get there, White Island is a must-see if you are in the Whakatane area. We have been to Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon, and White Island is on that level for the uniqueness of the experience. The island is the cone of a volcano that has built up from the ocean floor until its cone is now right at sea level, meaning you can dock a boat and walk through the gas dryer vs electric dryer singapore cone directly to the edge of caldera. Put on your hard hat and gas mask, and walk right up to the dozens of sulfur steam vents. White Island Boat Tours does a nice job. You place your reservation on line, and then pay once you arrive and register. No tour is definite until the staff checks all conditions the night before. Registration is at the small office across the street from the dock, and the boat ride and two-hour site tour are handled very professionally. HINT: Stay at the white Island Rendezvous Hotel the night before. It is owned by the same company and adjoins the rese3rvation office. You can walk down to the office c gastronomie traiteur avis early, register, go eat breakfast and skip the registration crowd. We saw at least 4 helicopters landing at White Island, which provide a more-costly an alternative to the 3-hour round-trip boat ride.
