Wow what a great resort!! – review of centara grand beach resort phuket, karon, thailand – tripadvisor gas or electricity more expensive

A big shout out and thank you to Ray, manager at the COAST Beach Club & Bistro at Centara Grand Phuket. The service we received from him and his staff was most excellent and I’m here to sing his praises. Throughout my travels, I’ve received good service, until my friends and I met Ray at the COAST Beach Club & Bistro. He was phenomenal and God sent! I’ve never come across a manager who will go out of his way to make sure that customers are happy. He was the most friendly and welcoming manager I’ve ever come across,and you could tell it was coming from a genuine place, that’s why i’m even making the effort to write a review, because he made such a positive impact. Ray made sure we were comfortable, and gave us a perfect spot for our dinner overlooking the sea. His staff followed his example, (which shows good leadership) they were all lovely, prompt, attentive, and welcoming. After our meal, Ray went a step further and got us a sky lantern (Bagel), which we wrote our messages on, lit up, and watched drift into the sky, out of sight. This was service the most excellent way, and we will never forget Ray and his kindness. Ray made our night at the Grand memorable. We even got time at one of the special set ups by the beach and took pictures there, and my wrote about it in her magazine article. The food was fantastic/out of this world, and the portions were very generous. If I’m to sum up Thailand in two phrases, it would be: beautiful smiles, epicurean delight. I would definitely come back to this spot a thousand times over without hesitation! Satisfied Customer.

We spent 3 nights here after spending 6 nights at Centara Blue Marine in Patong. I wish we had stayed here the whole time as this was definitely the best place for the kids. We stayed in a deluxe room room 332 . Everything was clean and tidy and had everything we needed . Breakfast in the morning was fantastic and catered for all tastes. There was a separate kids area as well but they could still eat from the main buffet. Service around the pool was excellent , we were not left alone for too long and of an afternoon complimentary fruit was brought around . Cocktail hour was good however unlike the blue marine where you could order two different drinks for the price of one here we had to order two of the same drink . The resort offers a lazy pool, 2 water slides and and cliff jump into the pool , these can be enjoyed by both adults and kids . Kids club was awesome and the entertainers were always rounding the kids up to do things , once my kids had a taste of it we barely saw them , my children are 10 & 7. We ate dinner here twice and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. One negative is that when we were checking in we were told if we used our credit card for a deposit the money would not be released back to us for 3-4 weeks , this didn’t pose a problem in the end as we spent this money at the resort plus extra The deposit was twice that of the Centara Blue Marine and we spent a lot more here in 3 days than 6 at blue marine, however the quality at Centara Grand was far greater and was well worth spent.

I stayed here with my wife for 8 days and would definitely return. We stayed in a Deluxe Sea View Room which was great. Bed was hard but very comfortable. Sea view was lovely. My only complaint was that only 2 small bottles of water were provided per day. This was rectified my management immediately though. On one day of my holiday we were informed that there would be no electricity from 9am to 5pm as the system was being worked on. What? No generators? No backup of any kind? I found that to be totally unprofessional as it meant that you could not stay in the hotel for an entire day that you paid good money for. There was no internet, no tv, no aircon. Being 37 degrees outside meant that sitting on the beach was also a no go. Not for an entire day anyway. So we booked a day trip which we really enjoyed. Fact remains that there was no compensation from the hotel for this though. Oh well, no use moaning I suppose. Food in the Cove restaurant was ok. Had breakfast there every morning and went for dinner a few times too. Make sure you are there at 6am if you want any brekkie though as the food runs out quickly and does not seem to get replaced. Service is bizarre. Dirty knives and forks taken off your plate and put back on the table when plate is removed! What’s that all about? Ask for coffee and get tea. This is the only part of the hotel that needs serious work. I saw the cork on a bottle of olive oil (I think) pop off by itself and land on the floor. A waitress walked past, stopped, looked at it, picked it up and popped it back on the bottle. Another waiter saw this happen and told her off. She then took the cork, washed it and put it back. I won’t be using any olive oil next time I am there. All in all this is a very good hotel though. It’s not a 5* in my eyes, but it’s as close as it can be. The staff bend over backwards to help you and are all extremely friendly. If I return to Karon Beach, I will definitely stay here again.
